It's been suggested that I should put a team in for this. Watch this space wink

The team was me, my wife and her parents. They let us have all the wine. Result grin

Should be interesting. Watching at home, I tend to get most of the questions right, as you probably do as well. Once you get there, of course, everything no doubt becomes a blank and you can hardly remember your name!
What would you name your team, if you entered?
It would have to be something to do with music, I should think. Any ideas yet?

Bury School Governors and Dads

If we went on Eggheads, we'd call ourselves that.

Now there's an understatement if ever there was one.
Roine Stolt is one of the all-time greats. Though not everyone knows that....yet! wink

Would you please post here (or start a Tangent thread) regarding what you think of theTangent albums?

I've got "A Place In The Queue" and just love it! It's refreshing plus has moments of 70s prog organ and flute.

As for the album artwork, APITQ is equally stunning. I got the SPECIAL EDITION with gatefold CD cover and bonus CD with more great Tangent music.

Well, COT, I have played both the first two Tangent albums four times now, and can honestly say I think they are really excellent. The openers on both albums are really something else. Could almost be FK tracks, seeing as Roine does most of the singing. And his guitar work really shines. The only slight problem I have is with Andy Tillison's voice. He could never be mistaken for a great singer. He takes some getting used to. But you can tell he is really putting everything into the performances. Can't blame him for trying. But he is a fine keyboard player. And Sam Baine also puts in some good work on piano. She even adds some backing vocals on the second album. And that has a 14 minute bonus track which is done very much in the style of Tangerine Dream. And very authentic it is, too!
Jonas and Zoltan are as good as ever, of course. I think those two were made for each other when it comes to music.
So, all in all, I am very, very impressed. And the production is likewise stunning.
If you are contemplating getting them well, stop contemplating and buy! wink

As for The Tangent, I do have 'The Music That Died Alone' and 'A Place In The Queue'. Both are enjoyable, but yeah, anybody who has problems with Roine's vocals (I actually quite like them) should listen to Andy Tillison's- they are not great. Still, I do enjoy the albums- the first probably more so because it has not only Roine but also David Jackson of VDGG on sax.

Below are pictures of TFK at CalProg 2005 in Whittier, California http://www.calprog.com. God, if only I'd known they were going to be there. It's only 60 miles from me.

But I AM going to CalProg 2007. For info, see the thread I just posted regarding this year's event.

Those pictures and many more are available at http://www.calprog.com

Once in the site, to the left of the screen, scroll down to CalProg 2005 PHOTOS BY CHRIS PETRO.

Through this site, I've found out about bands with big name musicians in 'em that I'd not heard of before; ie, KINO with Pete Trewavas (Marillion bassist), and AMAZING JOURNEY (Who tribute band), with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater drummer), Paul Gilbert (ex-Mr. Big and Racer X guitarist) and Billy Sheehan (ex-YES guitarist).

Neal Morse played this venue in 2004 and was the inspiration for the first CalProg.
