The Ladder is pretty good, I'd have to agree, esp "It will be a good day - [the river]"

Lovely track.... cool

Also been playing 'The Ladder' by Yes a bit. Borrowed it off a friend.
My first reaction was, 'too modern and ballady', but on repeated listens I have to say it isn't too bad actually. May even invest in it myself eventually.

The Ladder is one of my favorite albums by YES. So many people can't stand it for whatever reason.

My faves on this album are -

This is clearly a progressive rock album with a bit of pop touches, and not a pop album with progressive rock touches. It's merely Yes consolidating what's left of their 70's strengths and driving it with slick melodies and tight rhythms.

I know a lot of fans rate 'Homeworld' as their fave track on The Ladder.
My fave would probably be 'The Messenger', but I do quite like 'Nine Voices' and I have a soft spot for 'Can I?' because it brings in a blast from the past in the shape of 'We Have Heaven'. Brilliant idea after all these years. cheesy

What? A girl? A Flower? Flower Power? (Good mix of bands there, I thought!)

Evening Nov, the thread over on the official site is slipping, though I did bump it up before. sad

hi new to this thread.. but I did (quite a bit) of reading... had never heard of The Flower Kings.. didn't even know what Rosie meant by TFK lol...maybe I should buy a cd and see if I like them since so many of you seem to think they're good...have heard a couple of songs that someone had as samples...they didn't sound too bad...should I download a couple of songs?.. and which ones do you recommend?

Ta!
Allie

Hi Allie

Have a listen to the tracks on this page:

http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=110

(Nikki absolutely adores "Big Puzzle")

And also, the snippets on the Flower Kings web site here:

I'm just back from a quiz night. My team came 1st and won 6 bottles of wine laugh

It just seems to be me and you keeping the Flower Kings thread alive over there. I'm happy to do that to keep TFK visible but I just don't really feel "at home" on that site if you know what I mean.

I agree. I think this forum is more homely, though I don't really know why. If I had to choose just one to use, it would be this, though I do enjoy going back and forth at times.

Congrats on your win! Pub quiz eh? Do you ever watch eggheads? I like watching that. Maybe you should devise a 'prog rock special' quiz. I am sure your team would have no competitors in that!
As for your prize...well...typical! How many of you are in the team, three? four? Enough wine to go round, anyway! grin

It's been suggested that I should put a team in for this. Watch this space wink

The team was me, my wife and her parents. They let us have all the wine. Result grin
