All hail the return of the Squonklet!

(Falls to his knees and humbles himself with arms raised while the Welsh Witch smiles graciously, pats him on the head, and pulls out the hypodermic she has just plunged into his thigh, this being the reason for him falling to his knees.)

Nice of you to drop in and see us, chuck.
I hope it's not too long before your next visit. wink

Sorry mate!...I'm just not into depressing music! tongue

No idea about the first but thought The Bends was a great album and was eagerly looking forward to the next...Unfortunately OK Computer was just shite!! shocked, self indulgent, morbid, turgid, head-up-your-own-arse-time I'm afraid!...and just how Radio 1 got away with their non-stop, blatant promo of the thing, is beyond me! huh

Each to their own eh!...I'm sure I have something in my collection that'll make you laugh! laugh

I still stand by my original hysterical initial reaction to this album, it's fantastic and it's still one of my faves by any band smiley

Paloma loves Radiohead and has just seen them live.
For what it's worth I find Radiohead an OK sound, nothing hugely hitting home at the moment.

Check out the "AFTER" thread if you want to hear really decent music! cheesy grin grin cool wink wink

well the world would be a boring pleace if we all liked the same , I just hope Paloma doesn't see your post wink laugh laugh
I have to say the video's are seriuosly depressing/disturbing though.
You could say the same about Floyd as well though especially The Wall.
When my mate lost a job he loved in the 90's he was seriosly down and I introduced him to Radiohead and Floyd lol , he is still alive and a big fan of both laugh laugh

In all honesty I have no idea what they have done since OK Computer, they could have released a couple of the finest albums known to man since then and I would be none the wiser!...my view of them is based on just the one album that simply failed to live up to both it's predesessor and it's hype tongue

A similar thing happenned to me with Dire Straits, I loved their music with a passion through all their previous five albums and when we all built ourselves up into a frenzy in anticipation of the follow up to Alchemy, we were left with the unambitious miserable averageness that was/is Brothers In Arms - their biggest selling album yet their least talented, it both made their fortunes and killed their careers!

Totally agree with you there regarding Dire Straits, Fraser. I got so fed up hearing bl***y Brothers In Arms in nearly every hi-fi and record shop, because it was used to demonstrate the superb quality of the then new cd format. Just a pity the album lacked superb quality.
Funnily enough though, I bought, and still play occasionally, the follow-up album, On Every Street, even though many Dire Straits fans dislike it. I think it's a vastly superior album. It's the only DS album I own, in fact.
However, talking of The Flower Kings - weren't we? - unambitious miserable averageness are not words you can associate with them!
One of the most consistent bands around, in any genre, imo.
Imagine if they'd been around when the cd was first becoming popular. Maybe we'd all be saying 'I hated Retropolis, they had it blasting out of every record store!'
Somehow I don't think so... smiley

Why are you talking about Radiohead in the Flower Kings thread ?. rolleyes grin

No worries, I donīt care if they are of everyoneīs taste, or if everybody think they are rubbish. As Iīve always said, as long as I enjoy with Radioheadīs music, I donīt care what the rest of the world could think. And I can assure you I really enjoy their music. smiley

Anyway I think many people prejudge Radiohead without listening to them.
