That's a pretty fundamental aspect of The Flower kings sound undecided

Course not Steve.

It's a fundamental aspect of any (retro) prog band's sound I would've thought.

Mind you, if you've tired of that sound and now prefer the harder-edged more metally sounds of PT and Riverside then that's just the way it goes wink

Whatever, please keep checking in here because it's as much to do with the people that are here as it is the Flower Kings.

Cheers

Nov

Fair play Steve. cool

I decided to listen to TSONE again and I have to say I like it a lot. "Love Is The Only Answer" is superb.

Our ears are all different. smiley And that's a good thing of course!

Could be too much Radiohead lately Steve? grin grin wink

...Ah that explains it then!...Radiohead!...it could happen to anyone! tongue

I tried listening to OK Computer when it was released back in the day, (after getting caught up in the obscene maelstrom of hype that was the Radio One promotion at the time of it's release), and ended up on anti-depressants for months! shocked...I was lucky though...I made a full recovery in time!!

Looks like I've missed all this 'Steve on the couch with Doctor Nov and Nurse Nikki looking after him' stuff.
I hope Steve comes back to us soon.
For the record, TSONE has started to climb up my list at last. I do enjoy it, and can't say I was disappointed though, like Nov, it doesn't quite make me go 'wow' unlike some other FK albums.
Well, having sadly neglected TFK on the whole lately, I half remedied that tonight by playing:

The Tangent - Pyramids And Stars. (Thanks to Demo Man I now have a copy of this hard to get live album.)

Three Flower Kings feature here of course, Zoltan, Jonas and Roine, along with Sam Baine and Andy Tillison.
The performances here are superb, the sound is great, Tillison's voice, whilst never that strong, is no worse than it is on record, and Roine is on fire throughout.
A brilliant live album. It's just a pity there wasn't a dvd released of this show.
I'd buy it in a flash. wink

Played Paradox Hotel today. Disc one. I still find it a stunning album. Really enjoyed it.

It's a great album isn't it Steve? I love both discs, and I find it impossible to choose an outright fave track.
There are a number in the frame, eg: What If God Is Alone, Minor Giant Steps, End On A High Note, Monsters And Men, and Touch My Heaven.
But, to be honest, I enjoy every track on both discs.
It's at number four in my FK album chart, and unlikely to slip any time soon. cheesy

Each to their own Paul, but I've got to agree with Fraser on this one.
I found the album so morbid, it became unlistenable. And I don't care for the singer's voice. (Is he Thom York?)
But I know it's a very popular album with many people, so fair enough. smiley

By the way Nikki, I was just about to search for Steve's reviews of the Rotherham gig but can't get into the old forum. Where is it archived?

Sorry mate, been bit busy and forgot to come back on this rolleyes
Well it always used to be on the new official forum, get past the login screen and up the top it says Archived Forum, click on that and you used to be in to the old Invision Forum.
Now after you click on it a load of speel comes up about how it's been archived etc and then it says click here to access Archives, but i tried just now and it wouldn't let me sad
I just got those posts off my PC cos i saved it all before the old one shut down. smiley
