Just received Roine Stolt's "The Flower King" in the mail. Can't wait to give it a spin.

Recently purchased all of Tomas' solo stuff, as well as Roine's "Hydrophonia" and TFK's "Adam and Eve."

I love them all, but would have to say that AAE is TFK's least impressive release, although it does have more than an hour of amazing stuff on it.

TFK FACTOID: Record producers Gepetto Azzaro and Don Azzaro (Flower Kings, Tomas Bodin, Roine Stolt, etc) are pseudonyms for none other than Roine himself. He now uses his own name as producer, but had fun using the other names on many albums.

It's a modern prog classic.

Indeed, you are right, though I suspect some fans don't know this.
A bit like Roine and Tomas use the psuedonyms Mr Rain and Mr Hope now and again. smiley

Well, today I played Hydrophonia, having been reminded of it by various posts lately.
And it didn't disappoint me! (Not that I thought it would.)
Superb instrumentals played in the classic Stoltian way.

Yes, between "Hydrophonia" and "The Flower King," I would have to say the former hits more buttons with me than the latter, but "The Flower King" is nothing to sneeze at. Lots of great music on there. Of course, I've listened to "Hydrophonia" a dozen times where I just received "The Flower King" Saturday in the mail. Lots more spins will assure it fits nicely under my skin grin

I find it practically impossible to choose between the two albums. Of course, they are different beasts, so that makes it harder.
Depends which one I am in the mood for.
Going on the artwork, I would choose 'The Flower King' of course, but otherwise it's really a tie for me.
I think I would rate them both higher than 'Wallstreet Voodoo', but then that one takes a lot of listening, and is totally different - it was always intended to be.
Let's just be glad we have such a talent amongst us.
I think, if I was choosing six dinner guests, alive or dead, for the perfect meal, Roine would be there. cheesy

Well TFK fans, I have finally settled down to listen to Adam and Eve. It's the last remaining The Flower Kings album that I have to hear.

At the moment I love it tremendously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard some very strong Jon Anderson sounding vocals at the start and now it's settled in to be one hell of an album.

Babylon is awesome cool cool cool cool cool cool

Glad you are enjoying it Colin. Adam & Eve is often considered one of the band's weakest efforts. Even Nov puts it at the bottom of his list, though he enjoys a lot of it.
Personally, it's my third favourite FK album. I just love all of it. Some of my favourite shorter FK tracks adorn this album; 'Cosmic Circus', 'Babylon' & 'Starlight Man'.
As you say, plenty of Jon Anderson moments too.
Not everyone likes the title track, but personally I love it.
The cover is also one of my fave FK covers.
