They've been playing secret gigs in pubs around London.

I saw them in the Half Moon in Putney last Wednesday and The Grey Horse in Kingston last night.

Sorry, didn't I tell you?

wink

Oh gadzooks Fraser rolleyes

Feel the fear and do it anyway wink

Seriously, of all their albums, this is the one that's the longest "slow burner". I can understand why it seems so daunting because there is so much to get to grips with. I was just the same.

Why don't you just listen to it in chunks, say split "Garden of Dreams" into 2 and just get used to each section, and just listen to tracks at random on disk 2. Small steps mate.

Take note that this is many fans favourite TFK album, but it does take time to fully appreaciate it's amazing qualities wink

For me, disc one took about three or four plays before I said to myself 'this is brilliant!'
But disc two hit me straight from the first play, and that was it, I was hooked and on the road to being a bona fide Flower Kings fan.
And to think the second FK album I bought was another pile of rubbish - Unfold The Future.
You can see just how hellish has been my journey.... rolleyes grin

Don't know if you guys saw this, but Roine apparently appeared in Guitar Player, some very good exposure, IMHO:

Garden Of Dreams has it all.

Shadowlands has the power, most impressive.

The vocal skills in There's No Such Night is surely the best vocal passages in any The Flower Kings album? It's wonderful.

Yes.....I have the album on again today wink

Wow! You leave for a few weeks, and this is what happens. Guess I've got some real reading to do before I can accurately post in here. wink

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine came over to visit and play board games. While we were having some martinis, I decided to put on The Sum of No Evil. This friend is a big music fan, and likes all kinds of genres, even prog.

One the first things he asked was "Is this Yes?" lol

I played a couple tracks for him, but once the first song had reached near the halfway mark, he was already nodding his head and grinning. I think I'm going to burn him a mix CD of different TFK songs in the near future. I know he'd like them.

Well, I just wanted to post that anecdote. TSONE is continually finding its way into my CD player, even in the midst of a plethora of Italian prog albums I've been discovering recently. (good stuff, too!) I really think it's one of the best things I've ever heard in the genre.

Bad news for our American friends sad

It's looking very much like the band have had to cancel plans for an American tour this Spring.

I don't know too many details, only what I've read on other prog forums. They've definitely pulled out of RosFest which they were head-lining.

I presume they just can't afford to take the financial hit of taking their amazing music across the Atlantic which is a travesty I feel. All these crap bands get to play their rubbish in theaters and arenas and yet a band of fantastic musicians can't afford to play because they would lose too much money.

I'm positive that the audience would be there for The Flower Kings if only people could get to hear them.

Unbelievable. I guess I'll have to live with DVDs and CDs of this wonderful bunch of music makers. Actually, my wife loves them so much that she'd probably be willing to take a trip to Europe for one of their shows. Are you reading this, Roine? We'd be willing to spend $5000+ to see you perform onstage. No, I' m not saying you should come to America and charge $5000 a seat. I'm just making the point that there are some of us TFK fans that would go to great lengths to witness the wonder of a live TFK gig!

As a prelude to renewed TFK activity, I played Tomas Bodin's - 'An Ordinary Night' yesterday.
I'd forgotten just how good it is. I think, overall, I prefer 'Sonic Boulevard', but there isn't really anything between the two of them.
Both are excellent.
(May play 'Sonic Boulevard' tomorrow, in fact.) grin
