Well I got a nice FK moment just before Christmas - a very sweet message from Tomas.

How cool is it to have Jo in direct contact with Tomas? smiley

I got a text from Tony Banks on Christmas Day but I won't mention that....... grin

I haven't been too well lately, but am recovering now, so am more in the mood to enjoy myself now.
A Happy Flower Kings New Year to everyone! wink cheesy

Sorry to hear you haven't been well Carl but glad to hear you're on the mend.

Hopefully we can all meet up in the New Year - maybe at a suitable gig in the Midlands or something.

Cheers

Before playing Instant Delivery I have played Paradox Hotel throughout.
Excellent stuff, much better this time around. There are some really great songs on the album.

I have taken some Minor Giant Steps with this album wink

I saw what you did there - you incorporated a song from Paradox Hotel into your sentence. Very clever wink

Yours, observantly

Instant Delivery:

After having just recently drooled over the Meet The Flower Kings DVD I was expecting more of the same. Great musicianship and a mixed bag of the heavy and the more milder side of The Flower Kings.

But wait... this Instant Delivery is different. Before I ramble on, I must stress that I've only played disc 1 and the joys of Touch My Heaven is yet to come (the electric guitar soloing on this track is near perfect)
This disc sees the band totally fired up in front of a fully expectant crowd; a crowd that seem totally immersed in the musicianship.
The star of the show is, for me, undoubtedly Hasse (or is it Hans?) Froberg who is one heck of a talent. His enthusiasm and gusto on the guitar is incredible. I thought he was going to explode on the immense "What If God Is Alone". His singing voice is flawless and I have to say I'm totally impressed. Roine Stolt is magnificant as well, but is he reading the lyrics off the card? huh His guitar solos now demonstate to me just how I have underestimated his skills. Awesome. To be honest I can't separate my preferred choice of singer between the two as they are very similar. Maybe if pushed Hans has the edge merely because of his enthusiasm and overall performance.
Then there's Bodin: Great to see good footage of him in action. I'm really pleased about this because his coverage on MTFK is meagre at best. Being a Symphonic prog band heavily relys on great keyboard work and this dvd clearly demonstarted his prowess, on what looks like fairly basic equipment huh
Nice also to see a bass solo by Jonas Reingold who is another great talent. His solo on Pioneers Of Aviation is eventually backed up by great drumming and guitar work.....Love it!

Gonna take a break for a few hours before playing disc 2. If that is half as good as disc 1 then this concert footage is right up there in my collection of music dvds. The band clearly demonstate their massive talent and have gone up, yet again, in my estimation. Brilliant!

Oh btw I don't have the Adam and Eve album, so it was nice to hear Love Supreme. smiley

I just got Sum Of No Evil for Christmas!

Do you remember how the Spock's Beard messageboarders would say Roine Stolt sounded like a lounge singer? I'm sure they were thinking of the 'Dennis O'Bell' sequence in the Beatles' 'You Know My Name, Look Up The Number' - it's the bit after John says 'Good evening and welcome to Slaggers'...'

Disk 2 is even better wink

The crowd won't stop cheering at the end, even after the lights have come up! So they have to come back on!
