What do you recommend next huh

Hi Oz!!

Here's how I would order the TFK albums - fave down to least fave:

1) Space Revolver
2) Flower Power (2 CD)
3) Stardust We Are (2 CD)
4) Unfold The Future (2 CD)
5) Paradox Hotel (2 CD)
6) Back in the World of Adventures
7) Retropolis
8) The Rainmaker
9) The Sum of no Evil
10) Adam and Eve

The thing is though Oz that others here would almost have that list the other way around. Even though I've got Adam and Eve last, it still has a good solid hour of incredible prog on there. It's just that there are 2 or 3 tracks that I don't really like much.

There's a massive amount of music to get to grips with and all I'd say is just to take it easy because you can get a bit over-whelmed and kind of start wondering if it can all be this good. The answer - yes it is, but I'm still getting used to "Flower Power" (for example) and I've had it for about 5 years wink

It's like if you overdose on anything you love - beer, chocolate, er, sex (wink), it can all get a bit much if you try and assimilate it all at once.

What I would recommend you to buy is the "Instant Delivery" live DVD from the "Paradox Hotel" tour. That really gives you an idea of what this band is all about.

Anyway - happy listening mate......

Been abstaining totally from TFK for the past week.
Been listening to my new cds, Ritual - The Hemulic Voluntary Band (very good!) and Mostly Autumn - Catch The Spirit. A double 'best of' cd, which has a selection of songs off their first four albums, each one re-recorded, remixed and re-arranged.
Brilliant I have to say. Can't stop playing it at the moment.
However, I can feel TFK looming on the horizon again, and over the next couple of days my willpower is bound to crumble and I am going to have to expose myself (!!! shocked laugh) to some more of that band's strange beauty.
Evening all! wink

I too, took a small break last week.

However, yesterday I played dvd disc 2 of Meet The Flower Kings. Absolutely stunning piece of music. The whole package at first seemed expensive (around 24) but now it's one of my favourite dvd's in my entire collection (after some historic MMEB footage, of course)

Tonight I've decided to play Stardust We Are again. This just gets better and better on each play. Gotta say that this album is now on a par with Flower Power.

Great, great, great music! Well done, The Flower Kings cool

Gonna put the two CD's from Meet The Flower Kings in the car tomorrow smiley

I'd be interested to hear who are your top ten current bands, Colin. (Of course, I know your number one, but who would you put in the next nine places?) smiley

Actually, I'm thinking that Fraser prefers more straight ahead kinda stuff and sort of knows on first play if he's going to like something. Riverside and PT are much more immediate bands than TFK and I can understand why Fraser finds some of the TFK stuff a bit hard work.

'Straight ahead'?...'immediate'!...we're not talking manufactured pop here you know huh...anyway, give a guy a chance will ya?...you know I'll get there in the end! grin

...I'll just probably work my way through the rest of their albums before returning to the scary thing that is 'Flower Power' again! wink

Seems there's a few of us been doing just that!

After a few weeks of serious frenetic variety, I myself was all set for a full-on TFK week and had indeed made a good start!...then Second Life Syndrome popped through the door...and oh well!...maybe next week! rolleyes
