I've never posted on this thread before 'cos I'd never heard any of the Flower Kings. But diamond geezer Demo Man has sent me some through the post (with other stuff, including MMEB!). Just listened to half of Flower Power and I'm impressed! Think I'm really going to like it! Were they influenced by Yes and Genesis by any chance?

Lesley! Hi lovely! kiss Was great to see you again at Charterhouse! Welcome to the best thread!
See, all the girls are seeing the light now wink grin
Great stuff! smiley
This is one fantastic band Lesley. Enjoy smiley

Had to stick Flower Power on today as had TSONE on heavy rotation for a while of course! grin
Plus watching Gooner buy it on Sunday at the gig made me really envious in a way!
Knowing he's got the delights of hearing it for the first time to come cool
Remember Carl saying the same thing to me about 6 months ago wink

Just confirmed what i've known since i got my hands on it. This is in my top 5 albums ever and i can't imagine anything shifting it.

Managed to get Mrs Fad to swap her saturday shift around...so it would seem I have yet to run out of brownie points!

What a great wife you've got!!

Will you stay down there? It might well be worth it as we'll finish after 11 and the pub stays open until well after 12 wink

Do you have any details for us...

Have a look at the "Phantoms" thread in the musicians section ("Banjo Man") wink

If you need any more info than that, please ask a question in that thread. Could you please reply to it anyway wink

Oh and who else is going?

Definitely Nikki (and some of her crowd) and my mate Gary and hopefully Gooner and Jo, amongst others.

I'm so pleased you're coming Fraser. Any requests? (have a look at the set-lists at past gigs on the web-site wink )

Cheers

Nov

Hoping to bring a few mates from up here too, but there is a clash with a night out, and my work Christmas Party, grin (didn't want to go anyway!) so not sure about how many. undecided

That's great Nikki. The more the merrier.

I hope Jo is OK for it and that Gooner manages to sort it out. What's the latest Gooner?

Well I am free at the moment but I've been hit with a 1000 bill for my car angry Servicing, repairs etc so money will be tight and it depends when my flat goes through as well.
I would have to stay over if I came so that's a hotel as well but I'm gonna try. wink

Stay down there?...were is this gig - Cornwall?

I had planned to drive following my experience of a rushed exit from the TFK gig, though the thought of having to stay sober throughout is a little offputing to say the least! tongue

What arrangements are everyone else making for this?

cheers

We're much better after a few drinks. The band I mean, not the crowd grin

Mike thought it was great and had very good time smiley
He enjoyed both the performance and all your company.

He does not know the music but was amazed at how good the group were. (even though I'd repeatedly told him how brilliantly talented these guys are!)

I got the distinct impression that he was quite surprised at how much he had enjoyed himself! wink

We spent a fair chunk of the concert watching Pat work and enjoyed his range of techniques and sheer effort.

Mike thought that perhaps Roine was a bit 'full of himself' (though was impressed when I explained his place in the whole scale of things), and preffered the vocals of Hasse.

In fact Mike was most impressed by Hasse. He said it was obvious that he was enjoying themself the most and really threw himself into the proceedings wholeheartedly. He likened him to Iggy pop!

I have to agree that Hasse has the best stage presence whilst Roine is a more cool cucumber! wink

Not sure if Mike will take the time to immerse himself in TFK music like 'wot we do', but he certainly is keen to see them the next time they are in town.

I'm only sorry that my other mate couldn't make it...he is as big a music nut as me and just like me has wide ranging tastes...the fact that he works in the business is a plus too I suppose...I'll drag him along next time! grin

cheers

Great round-up there Fraser.

Interesting to hear your mate's view of things ;o)

Glad you put him right about Roine. If there is one bloke entitled to feel "full of himself" then it's him but he's not like that at all wink

Did you find the Phantoms thread OK?
