understood, but the music can take time to register, nonetheless!

I agree. There are some tracks that I hooked into very quickly and others that have taken a while to sink in as it were. All interesting stuff though.

Really love the album. It's very similar to Flower Power.

Simply incredible stuff. But that's just after 3 plays. grin

I think this must be my next purchase as everyone is recommending it. smiley

Nice comments on the first gig

Pat M & The Flower Kings - A Hit With The Moose Community !

:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Nov 7, 2007

My thanks to John for sending in his thoughts on Pat's debut performance with Swede proggers, The Flower Kings. As John indicated not everything went quite according to plan.

"The begining of their Euro Tour was not without incident. According to a very credible source, confirmed at the end of the show, the bus they were travelling in from Sweden collided with a Moose.Thatís right, this is going to make moose lodge chatter in So. Carolina.

The Moose paralyzed the vehicle, leaving it wrecked at the scene. Now theyíre hiring rental cars to make the date. Nice, thatís show biz.

The opening tune, Love is the only answer, went on for at least half an hour. Now I know what Pat meant when he said they have long songs. Roine intended to create a pure prog sounding cd and he did just that.

This band is amazing. Roine had multiple guitar changes as well as Hasse.Stardust was a real treat. Tomas had layers of keys. His mini-moog synthesized the night. Jonas had a great sound.

At one point he kicked a switch and had super-sub bass. He wailed and the crowd went wild. And Pat was in top form. Solid foundations for 2 and a half hours before an encore. On one tune he had a felt bass drum mallet in one hand stick in the other, very cool sound.

At the end of the night Tomas and Pat walked out and were more then gracious answering questions and signing, thanks to the guy from Tenn. Make time to see this show. John"

That's good to hear...I got Flower Power last week but have not had time to play it yet.
My favourite album so far is Stardust We Are...so if the two are similar then that's just fabbo.. smiley

Enjoy the album, it's full of great music

My favourites are:

The Man Who Walked With Kings
In The Eyes Of The World
Poor Mr. Rain's Ordinary Guitar
Ghost Of The Red Cloud

and of course the sublime...
Stardust We Are - 25 minutes of magic! wink

i will be seriously surprised if there is another to match Stardust...Space Revolver is the closest so far.

cheers

Fraser

I don't find them quite as similar as maybe Demo man does, but there are similarities.
However, you're in for a real treat when you listen to Flower Power.
For me, it's not only the best Flower Kings album, it's my second fave album of all time!
A truly superb offering, rivalled only, for me, by Unfold The Future.
You'll adore it Fraser. Just ask Nikki her opinion. wink

It doesn't get great reviews but I think it'll be fine as a meeting place.

Go for it.

The Glassworks it is, from 5pm.

I'll be there a bit later though.

No no!

I've already told several people about this.

Stick with the Glass Works as an initial meeting place at least.

It'll be fine.

See you there.......excitement mounts!!

The first 2 are bonifide TFK classics. Absolutely awesome, both of them.

Here's a clip from "There is More To This World": http://www.flowerkings.se/audio/there_is_more_to_this_world.mp3

Here's a clip from "Retropolis": http://www.flowerkings.se/audio/retropolis.mp3

Babylon is a glorious instrumental that could happily sit on W&W wink

Hudson River is an atmospheric piece from Flower Power that they kind of extend and get into a bit of a jam.

Cheers
