Personally, I'd like to see TFK do:
'An evening of Westlife classics, done with that magic Swedish twist.'
At the end of the evening they all sit on stools and croon to the audience......no? What's wrong with that idea then?
Ok, ok, I'm going, rather speedily, I hasten to add...
Night all! laugh

(How about - The Flower Kings do The Spice Girls?
Not literally, of course!) grin

I'm gone!!!!!

I just had a knock on my door. It was the postman. I now am the proud owner of a double album entitled "Flower Power," with a postmark from Tolworth, Great Britain. There's a handwritten note in the parcel from the folks at GFT/Cyclops that says "Have A Happy Birthday - All The Best," signed Malcom, Holly and Leo. I don't know why that's in there, as my birthday was in August, but hey, nice gesture.

Thanks Nov for introducing me to the great folks at GFT/Cyclops http://www.gft-cyclops.co.uk/

That's great service isn't it CoT? I'm surprised how quickly you got it to be honest. I trust you'll be using Malcolm's services again? Maybe check out one of the sampler CDs for the bands he promotes on his label wink

Plus, it's always nice to be wished a happy Birthday grin I wonder where that came from grin

More importantly, you now have the splendour of "Flower Power" in your possesion. Be prepared to be wowed and amazed wink

(By the way, I worked in Tolworth for a while - small world ain't it?)

Good old Malcolm Parker!
I've always found dealing with him a pleasure, though I've never met him. I usually place my orders by phone, and he is always friendly, helpful and polite. Between GFT, Amazon and sites such as these, my interest in prog rock has once again become as great as it ever was, even back in the seventies.
The internet really is a great thing, if used properly. cheesy
(Wish the postman would knock at ours though. I'm still waiting for the newie.) undecided

Well the thing is Paloma that you shouldn't have to try. The music either touches your soul or it doesn't wink

Having said that, I know the bands you like and The Flower Kings have far more in common with Genesis than the likes of Riverside and Porcupine Tree do. To me they really have a feel of Selling England to W&W era Genesis (with Yes mixed in of course), so maybe you haven't heard the right stuff wink. Maybe you need one of my special compilations.

As I type, Jo is slowly being seduced by the delights of TFK from the CD I sent her wink

So true.

I use to listen to some kind of different music, not only prog, this is the sort of music that I enjoy the most though....and inside of prog, I like also different styles, symphonic, neo, crossover...etc, as well.

But I guess that you are right, although imo, it doesnīt depend on if they are nearest to Genesis than Riverside or PT, is just as simply as, it has to touch your soul or not. And they hasntīs so far...

I tried to get into their music a year ago, cause Iīm a member of a spanish forum where they use to talk about them sometimes, I was curious.... but I gave up after some listenings.

Now Iīve tried again.... but neither this time.... embarassed...probably itīs just me that Iīm a bit deaf.... wink cheesy cheesy

( hope this post has sense, itīs being a bit hard for me to explain tongue...phew ! )

Do you have Paradox Hotel?
This is my favourite of the lot.

If you want songs to touch you the album is full of them:

Jealousy (Have you ever felt like that? I have. I must be horrible. LOL)
Self Consuming Fire ( A perfect meld of acoustic and electric)
Mommy leave the Light on (about death or the fear of death)

Touch my heaven (one of the truly great guitar solos. And a great lyric. Based on drug use and abuse).
Life will kill you (rock!)
The Way the Waters are moving (about the tsunami and loss. Genuinely moving)
What if God is alone?
Paradox Hotel (rock but the 'hotel' is life and the world. I love the concept of this album )

The only trouble with the Flower kings is the fact that they can produce too much music. They can lose a lot of intensity because of it. But they are worth battling with and I still maintain that the one gig i saw was one of the most joyful life afirming gigs I've ever been to. (Or was it the real ale?)

My punctuation is rubbish. LOL

Thanks for doing my job for me Steve grin

You probably have more in common musically with Paloma so will know which aspects of TFK to suggest better than me wink

Are you enjoying your half-term?

It was some night wasn't it?

With me it was the copious real ale topped off with the cider chaser at the end of the night embarassed grin

I still get a bit embarrassed thinking back to how gushy I was to all the TFK boys after that gig. They must have wondered who this plastered English fan-boy was and why I kept saying they should be 10 times bigger than they are grin
