I'm currently listening to Delicious Agony prog rock music station. Apparently there's a TFK special starting at 8pm (GMT) including an interview with Roine Stolt.

Check it out here:

Yep - it is on right now. They've just played "In The Eyes Of The World" and are now talking about the new album with Roine.

Are you gonna go for the albums I suggested (to start with).

Which country are you in?

I'm going to get the new album.Start at the top and work back! I loved the snippets I've heard from it.
I just cant believe i've not heard this lot to date.
And me , an ageing progger too who's been an avid Genesis/Yes/Floyd etc etc fan since the early seventies. This lot sound awesome they really do smiley

I started LOS ENDOS a few years ago with Big Al. I was the frontman/second drummer (though we never quite got round to the second drummer bit !)
I left the band six months ago due to a crisis in my personal life. All is well again and I'm Looking for a new band again now. Man I miss playing that stuff cry

I walked into a dim-lit room,
I looked around till, in the gloom,
I made out two men sitting there,
Smiles upon their faces fair.

And I heard one say to t'other,
As if he were his own brother:
'Alex, I am getting worse,
Can you recommend a nurse?'
To which the one called Alex said,
Gently shaking his wise head:
'Don't be fussy, don't be picky,
Hasse, you just can't have Nikki!
She's for me, she's not for you,
For you just any nurse will do!'

Now jealousy's a torrid thing
And cannot to the table bring
Aught of good, all ends in tears,
Oh Nikki! Let them end their years
Friends, not rivals for your heart,
Let Rush and TFK depart
On happy terms to spread the word
That Welsh girls simply can't be shared!

Nurse! The screens! grin

That's a very good decision. We're here to advise you along the way of course wink

Better late than never wink

The thing is that one needs to search this great stuff out because it ain't gonna come to you. What I mean is, The Flower Kings (and all the other great current prog bands) aren't gonna be heard on the radio or mentioned in magazines so you need to go searching for it with an open mind (as you have done).

My search for new prog started in the early 80s when Genesis moved away from that style of music. Of course I got into the likes of Marillion and IQ at that time but they never got close to the quality of early Genesis or Yes. Fast forward to about 1996 when I heard a track on the Alan Freeman show and it was the best prog track I'd heard since 1977. This was "Walking On The Wind" by Spock's Beard. It blew me away and introduced me to a whole new world of amazing prog rock that had exploded in the early 90s. This lead to other bands including The Flower Kings who have gone on to become my favourite current band.

I flew in and out of Gatwick last weekend on my "lads mystery trip" to Rome. When we came out of the car park late last Tuesday, heading towards the M23, we witnessed a near fatal head-on collision caused by a guy thinking it was a twin-lane slip road where-as it was in-fact a single lane 2-way road. Not nice. A scene resembling an episode from Casualty took place before our very eyes. Apparently there have been fatalities along this stretch of road for the same reason (i.e someone not realsing it was two-way).

I've kept up with this in the "musicians" thread and have been aware of your problems getting lead singers, etc. Wasn't Glyn Protheroe (ex ReGenesis) going to join at one stage? Sorry to hear about your personal crisis and I hope that's all sorted.

I play in a couple of bands - one based down in Feltham ("The Phantoms" - www.thephantoms.biz) and one based up where I live ("10 o'Clock Curfew" - www.10oclockcurfew.co.uk)

If you're free on December 1st, I've got a gig with The Phantoms at The Grey Horse in Kingston. Nikki will be there and hopefully a few other board members so you're very welcome. Check out the "gigs" section wink

Cheers

Yes Nov you are right. Glyn did indeed "join" LOS ENDOS but it was a brief visit and he left. They have now recruited a new frontman who's new to the Genesis trib scene I believe but he's doing a great job by all accounts.

Would definately like to come see The Phantoms. Great setlist , looks like a good night out for sure smiley

Oh and yeah , thanks , my situation has improved somewhat and I'm looking for a new band either as frontman or drummer.

I loved that original ReGenesis line-up with Glyn on vocals. I used to go and see them loads in the mid-late 90s at places such as The Swan (Fulham), The Half Moon (Putney) and The Grey Horse (Kingston). I used to go to the latter thinking I'd love to be in a band playing there and now I am smiley
I was there the night Steve Hackett came to see them - what a night that was wink

That's brilliant!! At the September gig, Nikki was there along with Gooner and JC4 (Jo) so hopefully you can hook up with those guys.

Of course, we're as far from prog as you can get but we have a great time and we get a pretty good crowd in the Grey Horse who seem to enjoy it as well wink

Good luck with that. Have you thought about applying for the lead-singer post in ReGenesis?

Cheers mate and hope to see you on 1st Dec

PS Have you ordered that TFK disk yet wink

Is Flower Power hard to get nowadays? I ordered it online, and the delivery isn't until mid November. In checking around on other sites, I notice it's backordered and not available.

Thanks Nov. It's ordered. Hopefully it'll get it here to the states before mid November. Have you done business with this site before? It's only 60 cents more to order from them than it is from amazon.com, including shipping.

Loads of times and I know Malcolm (who runs the business)

When I lived in that area (near Kingston, Surrey) I used to go and see Malcolm in person to buy my CDs direct from his "shop".

He runs his own prog label as well (Cyclops) and promotes many artists on there so you might like to check some of those out wink

He's basically flying the flag for prog rock as much (if not more) than anyone I've met in the last 10 years.

I hope you actually get the CD now grin

Had a really good listen to the new album today.

It's really fantastic actually. So much better than Paradox Hotel in my opinion.

I have been thinking about my current favourite track on the album but I couldn't decide between Flight 999 Brimstone Air, Life In Motion or Love Is The Only Answer.

Very impressed especially as I found this band extremely hard to appreciate when I first started playing their music.

This is on a par, if not better, than Flower Power.

The video footage is brilliant too. Great value for money, pity the disc wasn't dvd though, but that's a small issue really.
