I've just thought of a new band, how about:

The Froberg-Hackett band!

I think that would attract a fair few followers, and not all of them male, either!

Or: The Bodin-Banks band!

I think that would attract... oh, you get my point!

Today I played - Instant Delivery.

Now, before anyone says: 'How predictable', let me say, it wasn't the dvds, it was the 2 cds I played. I have badly neglected those. I played them once, when I first got the dvd, but have never played them since; I've always been too busy watching the dvds. So now I thought it was about time to give them a decent airing.
And 'bloody great' they were too! wink

I just ordered the "limited edition" digipak of "SUM OF NO EVIL" online at www.tower.com for $21.84 and free shipping!

It comes with a 28-page booklet and 2nd CD with 4 bonus songs on it! Probably another hour's worth of tunes! Plus a 'making of' video documentary!

I agree Dave, Ed Unitsky is one of the best modern artists around. His covers are always colourful and interesting.
I may have to invest in some Starcastle one day. I've read so much about them, with comments ranging from 'Yes clones' to 'A great band in their own right'.
If they have strong material of their own, and it's in the Yes style, then I will be interested.

However, my next priority has to be Roine and the boys.

Well, I'm not really into all these smileys, but you should have seen my grin when i picked these up at the local post office.. Man I can't wait to see them live! I missed the concert last year because of the navy, but this year, nothing is gonna ruin itsmiley

Anyone here heard of Anathema?? Theyre opening for Porcupine Tree here in Oslo, and I am wondering if they're any good.. Hmm, that reminds me, wonder if TFK is gonna have an opening act.. I know I would rather prefer a 4 hour epic marathon by the five and only Flower Kings than any opening act!!! Genesis with Jesus on violin could play in the room next door and I honestly wouldn't care..

Here's a taste of their self-titled debut album. It's a mix of Gentle Giant/ELP/YES-like material. http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=321

The singer is a dead-on Jon Anderson (most of the time). The bassist is almost a dead-on Geddy Lee, but with a touch of Chris Squire. The guitarist could pass for Steve Howe, even on a bad day. The keyboardist is very much in the Wakeman style, but glides easily into a Keith Emerson mode at the drop of a hat. All songs are original and very refreshing! You're gonna like it!

I've seen Anathema supporting (I think) Porcupine Tree a few years ago. They were OK. Kind of doom-laden Floyd-influenced space-rock.

Hilarious Didrik. You Scandinavians have a great sense of humour (unlike certain other nations) wink

I've seen TFK supported by the likes of Ritual. I also saw Magenta supporting Circus Brimstone. They were OK but frankly, any support band is going to be totally over-shadowed by the TFK boys.

haha thanks for the info on Anathema, would expect it too me melancholy and doom-ish.. PT ain't exactly overdoing their use of the major key, and the support band is usually in the same vein as the headliner.. but hey, it will be a nice balance to TFK, get me down to earth againsmiley

speaking of live, earth and all this, I received Alive On PLanet Earth in the mail today.. it should have included UTF, SWA and Rainmaker, but they are on hold because they're sold out.. But AOPE is absolutley Magnificent live album!! it rocksway more than i had imagined, with amazing alternate versions on some song parts. It is great to hear some of the older songs live, ID and MTFK has got either epics or more focus on the new material.. Together they make a beautiful collection of TFK "hits"..

Guess we all have to hope for a DVD from the new tour..

Your statement above reminds me of the time I attended an all-day concert on June 19, 1977 at Anaheim Stadium in Southern California, and that not all bands are created equal........

Lineup:

Headliner - Alice Cooper

Supporting acts -

1. Sha Na Na - (these guys were booed off the stage and had bottles thrown at them)
2. Nazareth
3. The Tubes

It was a hot day and everyone was either drunk or stoned (or both). The entire event was very good. The only down part was Sha Na Na being billed with the other three great bands.

From what I understand, Prince, too, used to get booed off the stage early in his career when he opened for major headliners.

The Tubes also had problems when they used an all-black girl cheerleader squad as part of their show. I'm not sure if many in the crowd were racist, or what, but a melee broke out, and Fee Waybill had to yell at everyone to back off or the show would end promptly.

Apparently the concert was filmed and is available on VHS.

Oh, those wonderful 1970s!

Pretty damn funny clip of The Tubes from 1977 doing WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cyJGNn0c5po

And we complain about what our kids listen to today...... tongue

P.S. The Flower Kings rule!!!!! cool

HAHA! Nice story COTsmiley
Something tells me that won't happen on a TFK gig, that's for sure. By the way, what's the average age on a TFK concert (take a guess)? Sometimes when reading about what you all were doing and listening to in the 1970's.. Well I feel that I'm am too old for my age.. Doesn't sound too good that my favorite band's avergae fan age is 40 or whatever..

But then again, I don't give a **** about that really.. The feeling just goes away when listening to TFKsmiley
