Well, what a strange collection you must have, to be sure... Next you'll be telling me Jon Anderson wasn't a member of the Sex Pistols, or some such idiocy. Ha! Not falling for that, you know!

From Marygold:

Not sure, if everyone have heard about the brand new LANDMARQ album.

Thanks for that! I'd completely missed it.

Touchstone's new album 'The City Sleeps' has charted at number 36 in the official BBC UK rock chart. cool

Have to add some words: this is a really excellent CD! Their best effort so far...

Have it on pre-order. Love everything they've done thus far! Saw them in concert at CalProg a couple years back. Very talented bunch.

Is Kim Seviour still with them? There was something I saw that made me think she wasn't in the band anymore. I really liked her voice.

They've signed with a new label (Steamhammer), but the lineup remains intact. I agree with you, Kim Seviour has a very strong, yet smooth, vocal quality.

To me, Touchstone has always sounded like a progressive rock Human League. I don't mean that in a bad way. Very refreshing sound, and the albums have an amazing quality to them.

Somewhat to my surprise, the new Thomas Dolby album, A Map Of The Floating City, is already available on Spotify...

(It will officially be released on October 24th, I believe.)

Just listening to it now, will edit in a few thoughts later.

EDIT: Just listened to the album. Just a single listen, mind, but I'm impressed. Very impressed. This is surely the best Dolby album yet; it must also rank among the best albums released this year. It surely deserves a seperate thread; I think I'll start none now smiley

(This was edited in after CountingOutTime's reply.)

Got it on pre-order. Don't expect it for about a week or so. My brother saw him perform solo recently for a radio station promotion of his new album. Her played 4 songs - one of them being Europa and the Pirate Twins. He said Dolby was in top form - amazing talent. He announced an upcoming full-band tour. Great news!

Pallas have announced three shows for early next year.

The veteran Scottish prog band will be the following dates in February 2012:

24 Feb 2012 : Glasgow (venue to be confirmed)
25 Feb 2012 : Kingston, Peel, House Of Progression
26 Feb 2012 : Bilston, Robin 2

This announcement comes as vocalist Paul Mackie has been given the all clear, following the recent discovery of growths in his nose and throat. Thankfully, these have proven to be benign.

Currently, Pallas are writing and demoing songs for their next album. The band are also remixing tracks from the XXV album, and one of these will be made available for free download before Christmas.

New Steve Thorne album:

The album is called “Crimes And Reasons”. and will feature Tony Levin (bass), Nick D’Virgilio (drums), Martin Orford (flute) and Gary Chandler (guitar) – Bob White (drums). I have played more instruments myself, than on the previous 3 albums, taking on all the keyboards on the record and, bass on several of the 10 tracks plus the usual acoustic and electric guitars/ solo’s etc. I’m very pleased to have Martin Orfords flute playing on 2 tracks and, bring him briefly out of retirement from music.

Neal Morse is to collaborate on the writing side of the next Spock’s Beard album. He will not be rejoining them.

Echolyn update

“Hello most patient awesomest friends any band could possible have!

We haven’t forgotten about you! In fact we care so much we laid down strings today from a quartet who should rightfully call themselves “Gods Gift to String Ensembles”! Songs are sounding miles above anything we’ve ever done! We are clawing at the bit ourselves to hear the finished product, but we promise this to be our best!!”

The new THRESHOLD album will be called “March of Progress” and is due for release through Nuclear Blast Records in 2012.
