Well, THIS came as a bit of a shocker: http://www.cherryred.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=5019

New John Lodge solo album, his first since 1977! (And let's hope it's better, for that was the poorest of all the mid-70's MB solo albums - but his 1980 single/b-side were much better.) It's called "10,000 Light Years Ago" (Cue another moan about confusing light years as time rather than distance!)

Guests include Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas! Just when I thought MB recordings were at an end.

I guess John, after Justin's announcement that it was easier to do new songs alone than gather together the far flung members (Graeme lives in Florida, John in Barbados I believe, and Justin in France) has decided he needs an outlet for his newly written material.

Edit:

Youtube album trailer added:

This actually sounds really good. There's even a "Pink Floydian" moment in there!

Tomas Bodin of Flower Kings has completed a new solo album 'She Belongs To Another Tree'

All in all there will be 10 songs clocking in around 73 minutes in total. Release date is April 9th, 2015

Teaser/Sampler
http://mp3skull.today/download/teaser-she-belongs-to-another-tree

"This time I´ve worked with a LOT of pure analog sounds like the Minimoog, DSI Tetra, Rhodes, DSI Evolver (partly analog). I also have a lot of my sad piano pieces. Yes I would say this album is the most emotional album I´ve made so far. I´ve created the soundscapes in a new way. Mostly "handmade" using the analog side together with some assorted pedals. I guess this is the true craftsmanship."

"Finally I would like to mention the little concept... everything is more or less related to "The Tree". And talking about trees, the slaughter of the Rain Forest is still on. It will be released by Reingold Records!"

Here is the final song list:
1 Dried leaves from the sky
2 She belongs to another tree
3 When the Ballerina Fish made her Gum Crawl
4 Damn I was stung by a Zap Goblin
5 The Sloths are never climbing inwards
6 A Drama Queen in a Sky Bar
7 Dancing a tree in a Paranormal Café
8 Tree Top Sunset
9 Night Forest
10 Bonus - Shelter My Roots With warmth.

Tomas

The only thing I have to say about that is, it's better than anything I could ever make... grin

And it's definitely not the worst video I've ever seen...

Album came while I was on holiday. Excellent, a bit short (seconds under 30 minutes) but with more musical inspiration in the opening minute than the whole of Natural Avenue. Recommended.

May be going against the grain here but first album in 38 years and shy of 30 minutes? Almost as bad as last Backfield album. Less than 30 minutes is an EP and thus price should reflect this. Oh and I am a Moodies die hard but think an additional 10 minutes or include his last album (already remastered) too which is fairly short as well.

Would tend to agree Ned, but frankly, >30 minutes of stuff this good is worth >120 minutes of Natural Avenue! wink

And given that I thought "Spirits......" would be, in effect, the Moodies swansong, this was a nice bonus. Unless Graeme knocks one out!

(It IS only 8 seconds short of 30 minutes).
