Just a short message:

Renaissance released Symphony Of Light earlier this year and it's now available to listen to at Progstreaming.

Symphony Of Light is actually the same album as Grandine Il Vento, with three bonus tracks added. Grandine was very hard to get hold of when it was released, but the "new" Symphony version should be much easier (iTunes and the like).

Available for pre-order http://shop.textalk.se/en/article.php?id=8412&art=24059482

1.Black Days, 2. Tumoro, 3. Acid rain
4. Caressing the moment in tranquilized exctacy, 5. Tearn in blue rain, 6. Electro shock,
7. Too much therapy, 8. Strom, 9. The last one

Barracuda Triangle is a acid/progressive/instrumental/avant-garde power trio from Sweden/Germany. The music may be described as cinematic, dreamy, spacy, beautiful, ugly and dynamic with minimalistic elements and “over the top” full blown soundscapes. “Add some King Crimson, Black Sabbath, Richard Strauss and impressionist Claude Debussy and you have a pretty good picture of what it´s all about,” says bassist Jonas Reingold.

The band consists of highly prolific members of The Flower Kings; Tomas Bodin - keys, Jonas Reingold - bass and Felix Lehrmann – drums. The compositions are a result of hard teamwork and collaboration between the three members of the band.

On their debut album the band displays a relentless lust for experimenting. From the beautiful “The Last One” to the gritty “Electric Shock Therapy”, the band takes you on an unforgettable journey into worlds unknown; always with one foot in the danger zone. “We would love to take this into a live environment,” states keyboardist Tomas Bodin and adds, “Can this unstoppable force really be stopped?” “Barracuda is here to stay!” drummer Felix Lehrmann proudly proclaims. Let’s unfold the future, it’s Barracuda Triangle time!

Cheers Dave, this will be a must have for me, of course, also looking forward to the new Pendragon album. smiley

Schnauser - a band I hadn't heard of until recently - have released their new album Protein For Everyone:

User Image

It's rather nice - that is, for all those who like Canterbury. There's a lot to remind you of, say, Caravan or early days Soft Machine, including the impressive 16+ minutes of the the song Disposable Incomes*, a track which may have some of us thinking - a bit wistfully - about Nine Feet Underground.

This isn't Schnauser's first album; there are, I believe, three earlier ones, that can all be heard in full over at Bandcamp.

_________

* Or "Outcomes". Weirdly, it seems to change! Seriously...

Hi there

The Steve Wilson remaster of Jethro Tull's Warchild album is due out next week - can't wait. I've seen an advance copy and it looks every bit as good as the Passion Play edition.

On February 2nd, Van der Graaf Generator will release a new live album, Merlin Atmos:

User Image

I'm generally not a huge fan of live albums, but I'm happy to make an exception here, if only because the double CD version will feature some great classics, such as A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers and Flight, the song-suite that takes up all of the second side of singer Peter's Hammill seminal A Black Box album.

Van der Graaf is not for everybody, but I'd imagine anyone who has a soft spot for the band will be waiting with bated breath.

Some more info can be found at the Burning Shed website:
