Hi there

Great to see N'Monix getting talked abut here. Another highly impressive album from a genuinely underrated talent. I have always enjoyed Nick's solo ventures and this one is no exception - thinking man's prog - just the way I like it!

From an e-mail I just received from Andy Tillison of The Tangent -

Hello folks,

Just to let you know if you haven't been keeping an eye out - the Tangent will be touring at the end of this month. All in Europe I'm afraid, kicking off with a couple of dates in Sweden before going to Germany, the Netherlands and taking in the Celebr8 festival in London on the 31st of May. I do apologise to our listeners outside Europe, I've included you all, because it often happens that someone who doesn't live over here IS here for a holiday or business trip, so on the off chance I've let you know.

The band are touring with Karmakanic... and the six piece lineup will play the music of both bands! That lineup is pretty cool.

Jonas Reingold - Bass
Andy Tillison (me) - Keys (both bands)and Lead vox for the Tangent
Luke Machin - Guitar
Morgan Agren - Drums
Goran Edman - Lead vox for Karmakanic
Lalle Larsson - keyboards for both bands.

The music is gonna reflect the whole of both bands' 10 year long careers - but both bands will have NEW MUSIC.

Both The Tangent and Karmakanic have new albums in the pipeline, and when the tour is over we'll be getting in touch with you all again to give you more details. We are running another competition for musicians who want to be involved - this time even more ambitious than the last.

In the meantime, all of us wish you the very best and hope we can meet some of you face to face at the gigs:

Going through Progstreaming's current list of albums, I came across this:

It's really quite good! The major influence here is clearly Rush, but there's quite a bit of (neo-)prog thrown in as well, perhaps IQ most of all.

Here's a track:

Coming end of June, the mighty Pink Floyd are re-reLeasing their 1994 album The Division Bell.Seven discs no less! And only a snip on Amazon £149.00!!!You what?
Let's face it,even by Floyd's high standards it wasn't their best.I think I'll keep my money well and truly in my back pocket on this one!!!

Is it just me, or is this sentence decidedly odd? cheesy

I do see what you mean, though. Tull's A Passion Play will be released in 5.1 soon, but at GBP 24.00 or so, I'll give it a miss. And GBP 149.00 is just ridiculous.

Even as a die hard fan, I am not shelling out over £30 for what is 2 discs with the same songs from 2 different nights/venues. Sorry guys but even Peter Gabriel's forthcoming deluxe blu ray is cheaper.

Nor am I. I have two Marillion live albums - Made Again and Size Matters, both of which I bought from the iTunes Store, and that's enough for me. The former contains shorter songs and the entire Brave album live, which is brilliant, and the latter contains their longer songs, so I'm happy. smiley

My cousin bought this and first blu ray disc is flawed. It is a production issue and Marillion are sending replacements to all who bought the package.

Is there such a thing as swamp prog? Swamp prog with rather serious compositional ambitions?

If there is, it's name is Jack O' The Clock, and these guys have just released their new album. It's called Night Loops.

And whilst I'm fairly certain it will not be for everyone, it certainly deserves a mention!

Here's a song:

I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts about Charlotte Church?

It seems she's rather well-known in Britain, but not so much elsewehere. And her familiarity in the UK seems pretty much based around her having been a fairly cutesy young teen girl singing opera (and hardly a proggish artist).

Nevertheless, I've been listening to her four recent EP's, all of which are alternative to say the least, and, in spirit, very much "progressive".

I have to admit, I rather like 'em!

Am I much off the mark?

Oh. and here's a link to Bandcamp, which features all four EP's:
