Silhouette back in the studio!
Posted on Saturday, 4th May 2013 by Léon
Dutch neo-progrockers Silhouette are back in the ‘Brewery Studio’ to record their 4th record after the giant success of “Across The Rubicon.”

As Erik Laan says: “YES. Back in studio “The Brewery” again with Brian de Graeve. Writing Silhouette’s album nr IV. The vibe is great!”

Just completing the second 2013 tour leg with Landmarq through The Netherlands among Rock ITtervoort, Silhouette is recording new material together with new guitarplayer Daniel van der Weijde for a new release, early 2014, before embarking in June with Saga in Haarlem, The Netherlands and in October and November with Landmarq and guests through Europe.

Apple Pie's new album "The Gates of Never" is now available as a digital download. The physical CD will be available at a later date with album artwork by Ed Unitsky. The band hails from Russia and their sound is very much like Neal Morse-era Spock's Beard. These guys are an amazing talent. Don't let this one slip you by.

Have a listen http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/applepie

I was wondering when their follow-up would be finished. I got their first album back in 2007 and greatly enjoyed several of the songs from it.

Hmm. Le Sacre Du Travail. And: "This is our first full foray into the bombastic and supposedly pompous world of ‘classical rock’.”

Stravinsky, anyone?

Have any of you heard of the band Days Between Stations and their album, In Extremis?

I hadn't, but here it is:

It seems a lot of pretty well-known guest musicians, such as recently departed Peter Banks, and Rick Wakeman, have contributed to this. And yes, the cover is by Paul Whitehead.

However, all that's relatively immaterial. It's the music that counts, and having just head a track (Eggshell Man) I must admit I'm fairly impressed. It starts out sounding a bit like Big Big Train, then moves on to slightly more adventurous territory. to suddenly become very Wakemanish. All in all the track is really quite good.

Oh, and (for what it's worth) the album has just gotten a very good review on the DPRP site.

I hope it's more prog-related than Lover's End Pt. III Skellefteå Serenade

Their best album to date IMO is the 2-disc Blomljud cool

From Votum via Facebook:

"Hello, today we wanted to say it officially - Maciej Kośiński is no longer Votum's vocalist. There were various reasons for splitting up, but at this moment, the most important thing is your support and help. We're very determined to keep going further and this week we will start a casting for Votum's new voice! Stay tuned for Votum TV! smiley"

What a shame, his voice was great.......but onwards and upwards for Votum. smiley

Great website for CD/DVD reviews
http://www.progressiveworld.net/html/modules.php?name=Reviews

I know one of the reviewers, Stephanie Sollow. We met years ago at a CalProg festival and a few times after that at other CalProg events. They have a new website, and I recommend it if you're needing more information or someone else's viewpoint on a band or album.
