Randy George posted on Facebook that he had lost his prized Spector bass and finally determined that it had been stolen from Los Angeles International Airport. Read his unbelievable story.....

On Saturday July 7th I returned home from the Neal Morse shows in the Midwest. I flew into LAX. As I collected my bags I kept looking for my bass which never showed up. I did the usual routine of waiting in a huge line at American Airlines to report it. They spent the next week doing their routine search for it. On Monday the 9th I contacted Spector the manufacturer of my bass which was a 1999 NS-JH5, to commission a new bass to be built for me. I had to proceed as if the bass was never going to be returned. I suspected it was stolen from the beginning but I bought into the Airlines search and figured if that was the case it was only delayed not lost. It provided some comfort but after 5 days it was clear they weren’t going to find it. I have to be in Finland next week for a show and needed something. I had explained to PJ Rubal at Spector that I suspected the bass was stolen from LAX. Spector was kind enough to provide a loaner as well until my new bass could be finished. I am a Spector endorsee. So a couple days later on July 11th, I called PJ at Spector and he mentioned that he had received a phone call the previous day from someone in the LA area asking about a 1999 NS JH5 bass, trying to ascertain its value. The date of the bass is imprinted on the back with the serial number. I knew immediately it was my Bass because a 1999 NS JH5 is a rare bass to find these days. PJ had the phone number of the guy who called still showing on his phone so he gave it to me. I then called the head of detectives in the LAPD and within an hour I was speaking to Detective Jesse Ortiz who works baggage theft at LAX. I explained to him about PJ at Spector getting the call and that such a bass was way too rare for this to be coincidence. He agreed and began the investigation into this guy. With the phone number I got from PJ the police were able to figure out who the guy was and began surveillance on him. Suddenly it was a hot case! They pulled tapes from cameras at LAX baggage claim. After a few days of this they witnessed him stealing even more luggage from LAX. This time they got him on camera. So this afternoon they finally arrested the guy. He confessed and told the police that he had sold my bass to a music store in LA. They were able to recover my bass from the store as well as recovering over 1000 other stolen items all because the guy called Spector. Spector has been awesome in this trying time and totally had my back! I owe PJ Rubal and Stuart Spector, along with Detective Ortiz and his team at the LAPD a huge thank you!

Not sure if anyone else has seen or heard this, but Jason Hart (who is the keyboardist for Renaissance) just released an album of his own under the name I And Thou. The album's name is "Speak".

The music here is lush, beautiful and melodic. At times really reminiscent of Tony Banks or perhaps Wind & Wuthering, but not so much that it sounds like a clone. It's just hints here and there, and an overall pastoral or autumnal quality that's hard to describe. I also hear traces of PFM as well, but that may just be a coincidence. wink

It doesn't really sound like a lot of the stuff getting made nowadays.

You can listen to a full track from the disc, via the SoundCloud app on that page. It's really quite beautiful!

Oh yeah -- and the cover art was provided by Annie Haslam. smiley

I have this one, and it is truly a wonderful release. Steve Hogarth, on the last song of the album, is a real treat. The entire album is fantastic! Highly recommended! cool

As mentioned before, the new Big Big Train album (English Electric, Part One) will be released in September.

Meanwhile, a full song from the album, Judas Unrepentant, has just been released on Soundcloud:
