Having never heard Mars Hollow,Celebr8 appeals even more to me. If it wasn't for work and the cost of travel and staying over for the weekend,I'd seriously consider think about going undecided rolleyes cool

I'm currently in the studio with Rob Aubrey and we finally get to remix Tales - 29 years in the waiting... I've been looking forward to this for a long time

It's incredible the stuff that we've found on the 24 track masters: missing vocals, missing bass pedals, two unused demos ('Just changing hands' and 'Dans le parc' which we later recorded at Cava studios in Scotland). There's alternate takes of certain things, some of which are actually better than the stuff that ended up on the album.

We've just finished the first rough mix of 'The last human gateway' which is sounding soooo much better. I've been constantly comparing it to the original mix and the difference is incredible...

Something to look forward to. The remix will be available around the end of this year / beginning of next year.

Yesterday, Phideaux released a "promotional issue" CD - sort of a sampler, I guess. The CD contains:

1. Thank You For The Evil (04:37) - from Doomsday Afternoon, but this is a different version
2. Tempest of Mutiny (08:12) - from the album 7 1/2, which has still to be released (although I seem to recall it was given away at some concerts)
3. Strange Cloud (07:32) - again from 7 1/2
4. Out Of The Angry Planet (07:38), again from 7 1/2
5. Chupacabras (20:51) - from Chupacabras, of course!
6. Snuff (10:52) - from the side-project called Mogon (a "simpler" version of Phideaux, who will release their album soon)
7. The Chairs (07:21) - again from Mogon's forthcoming CD

For the initiated, the most interesting stuff here is from 7 1/2 and from Mogon. For the non-initiated, though, all of this is well worth your while.

Best thing is, you can download the CD for whatever price you like - including nothing. In short, it's free.

Speaking of Phideaux, here's some more info:

From Phideaux himself on ProgArchives:

Quote:
7 is still scheduled. Have a few things to do to finish it, but 2 songs fully mixed, 2 songs ready to mix and 2 songs need a few extra vocals and some guitar work, then ready to mix (which has been the problem... Engineer/Producer has had too much work and doesn't really want to face mixing this stuff!!!) But, it will come out soon, and until then, I've got the promotional issue to whet some whistles...

From his Facebook (via ProgArchives)
Quote:
Oh dear, I think we're back to a "double album" for Infernal. Some new songs came into being: Here's the new rundown... Some of the titles have changed:

Side One (21 min)
1. Cast Out And Cold
2. The Error Lives On
3. Inquisitor

Side Two (18 min)
4. We Only Have Eyes For You
5. Walk On Water
6. The Order Of Protection (Part One)

Side Three (18 min)
7. In Dissonance We Play
8. Prickle
9. Metro Deathfire
10. The Sleepers Awaken
11. The Order Of Protection (Part Two)

Side Four (20 min)
12. From Hydrogen To Love
13. Eternal

I'm excited to begin recording at the end of July. We've got the studio booked from July 28 til August 6, Mark, John, Gabe, Mat, Rich, Ariel and I will be toiling for 9 days...

The aim is to record as much of it "live" as possible (with overdubs to complete later). The vocals will be done a few weeks later, also as much live as possible so we can feed off each other's energy. A good deal of Snowtorch was recorded live and I thought there was some good energy in those performances.

Here's hoping this concluding chapter will cap things off nicely! (and I hope we can finish it in time for the end of the world in December...)

I read another interview where he wanted to release Infernal on December 21st, 2012 to coincide with the insane Mayan calendar hype.

Also his new mogon Project has two releases planned, though no dates known that I could find. Supposedly not meant to be different than Phideaux proper except for the reduced band size.

Phideaux himself posted some of this info in a Prog Archives thread:
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=87242&FID=19&PN=2

I'm pretty excited about the possibility of 3-4 Phideaux-related releases in the next 6 months or so.

On July 17th, District 97 will release their second album, Trouble With Machines:

Somewhat oddly, the group distinguishes itself as "undoubtedly the most musically adventurous rock band in the world to feature an American Idol Top 10 Female Finalist".

This is from their debut 2010 album, Hybrid Child:

Not half bad, eh?
