Received this mail from Burning Shed:

"The Producers is a new band featuring industry legends Trevor Horn (Buggles, Yes), Lol Creme (10cc), Stephen Lipson and Ash Soan.

Blending Pop, Progressive and Rock influences, Made In Basing Street is the result of five years worth of live work, collaborative writing sessions and, as expected, countless hours of studio tinkering.

This is the limited edition deluxe 2cd edition and comes signed by all band members.

Pre-order now for 11th june 2012 release date."

Just received news that the Producers albums has been delayed a bit; contrary to my ealier post, expected shipment will be on June 25th (not June 11th).

Guess that means my wonderful Lizard mug will be late as well. Sniff...

As an aside, this is another semi-pop, semi-art rock album that may well appeal to prog fans:

Rave reviews, and all that. (And, truly, it ain't half bad. In fact, it might be a bit of a grower. Don't quote me, though - I'm not hooked yet.)

Now that Squackett seems to be back a week to 4 June that's 5 albums in 5 weeks. It's like being a teenager again!

Just to recap, here's the list of most prominent albums to be released in June:

1. Squackett - A Life Within A Day (June 4)
2. Rush - Clockwork Angels (June 11)
3. Magma - Felicite Thosz (June 12)
4. The Flower Kings - Banks Of Eden (June 18)
5. Echolyn - Echolyn (June 19)
6. Producers - Made In Basing Street (June 25)
7. Van Der Graaf Generator - ALT (June 25)
8. Panic Room - Skin (June 25)
9. Anglagard - Viljans Oga (sometime in June)

I'm probably missing one or two, but it's an extraordinary list as it is.

Not too much news on this, but here's the cover for the new Marillion album, Sounds That Can't Be Made:

When will it be released? Who knows? I'm guessing September.

In different news, a new Phideaux album is in the works. I don't know the title (might it be Infernal?), but it seems this one will conclude the trilogy started with The Great Leap and continued with Doomsday Afternoon. It'll be a "double album", with four sides of approximately 20 minutes apiece (whether that means a single CD or a double one - I wonder). Oh, and, with any luck, it'll be released this year smiley .

Sad news today, as US prog group Mars Hollow have folded shocked due to irreconcilable difference between some bandmembers... As for the future, bass player/vocalist Kerry Chicoine is looking at a new project of which detailes will be known soon.

Weird, and sad. I liked both of their CDs. Makes me wonder which members were at odds with each other, and if any bandmates may have a role in Kerry's new project.

I've heard that the bassist has left or been sacked(depending on which website you read) and the rest of the band are carrying on

There was a hot Mars Hollow thread on Progressive Ears forum - with many, many, many comments (incl. from both guys, Kerry and John). So I exactly know what I say... angry

Meanwhile this thread is deleted.

Ok I was only repeating what I'd read elsewhere. It also said that the bassist wished them well for the Celebr8 concert. I can't remember which sites it was so I can't direct you there cool

Meanwhile, there's this:

User Image

Citizen Cain have, apparently, been around for a while, releasing five earlier albums (the last one being Playing Dead in 2002). I must admit I've never really paid them much attention.

This new one (Skies Darken) is certainly worthwhile, though, and can be heard in full over at Progstreaming.com. Think early Genesis (Nursery Cryme or Foxtrot; or, by default, early Marillion). The voice is irrrefutably Gabrielesque; the music, though, is a littler edgier and heavier than ye olde Genesis.

This is very good stuff!

Oh, and I can't resist giving this a mention:

I admit, the band, Jack o' the Clock, are pretty obscure. Their album, How Are We Doing And Who Will Tell Us, was released early 2011 and is really pretty good. I add them as a little addendum, for them as likes. This song is actually quite conventional - the rest of the album is a little quirkier.
