Actually the only reason I knew about that album was because I saw it several times on the Kinesis music web store. I've never actually listened to it or heard anything by Paul Cusick. The new Saga cover immediately reminded me of it though. smiley

You really should hear Focal Point. Fantastic debut with shades of Porcupine Tree on some tracks. Great melody too.

Well, not sure about CarpetCrawler, but I have. Googling Cusick I obviously happened upon his home page, where both his albums can be heard in their entirety:

Some new (and newish) albums I've been listening to the last few weeks:

Dean Watson - Imposing Elements

For some reason, I thought Watson was a memember of Happy The Man. He isn't, but his music does resemble HTM in some ways. This is good, jazz-rock-with-prog-elements stuff.

North Atlantic Oscillation - Fog Electric

NAO released their first album, Grappling Hooks, a few years back. It's a fairly strong album, but does take a bit of getting used to. Their second, Fog Eelectric, sounds at once more accomplished and more eclectic. Again, it does take some getting used to! Very electronic indie pop, but with definite appeal for (some) prog fans. I like it!

Astra - The Black Chord

Pure, unadulterated retro-prog, this is Astra's second album. I never cared all that much for their first offering, The Weirding, and this probably won't become one of my favourites either. A lot of you may like it, though. (There's a seperate thread on Astra on this board, by the way).

Both the Dean Watson and Astra albums can be heard in their entirety on Progstreaming.com

That's too bad, for Black Bonzo. I really liked their album Sounds Of The Apocalypse.

There's some new info on the upcoming Echolyn album. In fact, there's a new website:

http://www.echolyn.com/

It'll be a double CD (or vinyl) affair, simply named Echolyn. Snippets of some of the new music can be heard on the site.

It'll be released on June 19th, but can be pre-ordered from the band.

Omg, finally! Been waiting on this for what feels like ages.

It'll be hard to top The End Is Beautiful, for me. Looking forward to hearing their new stuff at long last. smiley

Some excerpts of fairly rough mixes for the new Spock's Beard album have been posted on Youtube:

After Neal Morse departed, the hopes of many SB fans were riding with Nick D'Virgilio. Now he's left, too, and it'll be interesting to see what the group manage to come up with.

Not bad, but I'm not too into the new guy's vocals.

A mention should be made of the new Izz album, Crush of Night.

It was released on May 1st, and has just received a whopping 10 out of 10 rating from the DPRP site:

http://www.dprp.net/reviews/201216.php

I must admit that I've yet to catch the Izz bug; I have My River Flows (released in 2005) and find it nice enough, but not all that arresting. That's just me, though - clearly I'm missing something.... grin

Cover, you ask? Here it is:
