Hello Again!

Can anybody give me any info please, about an album by Francis Monkman, on which Andy Latimer played.
What was the album, what did Andy contribute Etc.
Many Thanks!

Peter

I have it on cassette. Only ever played it once. Wasn't impressed.

I wonder if they stole the title from Van Morrison or vice versa...

Must admit, I've got 10 Camel albums, I think, and Harbour of Tears is my least favourite. It's ok, but too sombre in parts for me, and too Celtic in flavour too. I know it's supposed to be, but it's just not my cup of tea. And why the long silence at the end?

Snowgoose, however, is a classic, and in my top three Camel albums!

Yes, I'm a fan of early Camel, the first four albums in fact. All excellent imo. cool
Nothing against the later stuff; in fact, some of it is superb, but, to me, it's become more like the Andy Latimer band than true Camel. Of course, we can never have Peter Bardens back, but I think the band lost something when he left. Just my personal feelings. I know others feel totally different about it and love the later stuff. And therein lies the beauty of music! Everyone's different, and quite rightly too. smiley

RE HIGH VOLTAGE
Previous mail fom CP...
"
We get to close the year on an exciting and high note. Recently, Camel were invited to appear as special guests at the High Voltage Festival in London this coming July, and we are seriously considering it. He would want to do a small string of shows, not just the one, so before we can say definitively, we have to work out the logistics and be sure Andrew is fit for the demands of a live show. The decision must be made by early spring, so it won't be long before we say 'yay' or 'nay' . "

When do you think "early spring" is huh

Still hoping!!

It's not silence. Turn up the volume & you'll hear the sound of waves lapping against the shore. I believe it was done to make you feel you were there. Camel have always been about atmosphere & I believe it was also a kind of tribute to his father.

Ditto, although every single album has it's good points.

I agree, but I also think Andy has always chosen suitable replacement players for the keyboard parts, even if the latter stuff wasn't written by Pete.

I suppose all bands kind of lose something when someone leaves, but I think of it more as a band changing.

Some changes can be a good thing. Would we have had such fine guitar pieces like ' Ice ' ( know most of us love that one ) , ' Stationary Traveller ' , ' Sahara ' , and so on, without line-up changes in Camel? We'll never know really, but I think not.

I love all their music anyway, but in different ways! smiley smiley

MORE FROM THE HIGH VOLTAGE FESTIVAL SITE!!!!

"We had hoped to announce a number of key additions to the bill this week. Unfortunately time and artist clearance has worked against us.

These additions and a few more will now come next week. Sorry for the delay but we promise it will be worth the extra few days."
