Recent Camel Listening.....

First album ...LOUD..in the car on way home from work Friday night...this album just gets better with age!!!

Today.. ."Snow Goose" ... single version with extra guitar & keyboards...played 4 times in a row..why has this not been issued on C.D. huhhuhhuhhuh?

Cheers
Peter

What is this??The orginal Snow Goose was released as a single CD a long while back and then re-released as a deluxe version recently. I also have an expensive Japanese single version which has the best pressing of the classic album (hence why it cost me Ģ35 at the time). Is there a difference in the original album version and the initial CD release? if so, I cannot hear it.

Hi Ned...
What I'm referring to has nothing to do with any CD re-releases of the "Snow Goose" album.
Decca Records back in 1975 insisted that tracks from the album were to be released to promote the LP..."Flight of the Snow Goose" was one, issued as an identical version as the album cut, then the " The Snow Goose" track itself, released as a 45RPM single with "Freefall" on the B-Side.
This version of "The Snow Goose" differed slightly from the LP version, and has never been issued on any CD re-release of the album itself...a great shame in my opinion. This 45 single version included some extra guitar work from Andy Latimer, and much enhanced organ from Pete Bardens...Latimer added some extra lines which reminded me a little of Fleetwood Macs' "Albatross", the sort of ghostly guitar in the background.
I'm just astonished it's not yet seen the light of day on CD.
NB PM me for more!!

I was at the Friars gig in '79. Three memories survive....

1. Catching Andy Ward's drumstick when he threw it into the audience at the end (I still have it)
2. Kit Watkins being impressed that I could clap in time to the odd time signature in 'Hymn to Her'.
3. A poor night's sleep in a pub B&B due to lorries thundering by all night.

Would be great if Andy and Doug got back together with Andy L and did a new project in similar style to Moonmadness. I know the Brew project was something being worked on many moons ago but somehow I think that is now a dead duck.

Just to see Andy L back to full health and recording would be all my Christmases in one happy bundle.
