It just suddenly occurred to me that at 53 , I'm as excited in anticipation of seeing Camel live as I was when I first saw them as a 16 year old in 1976...talk about the soundtrack to your life!!!

I suppose now is as good a time as any to confess to the fact that, despite all the fantastic groups I was able to see at York University's Central Hall while I was still at school in the early 70s, I have never actually seen Camel live.
It would be a massive understatement to say I am very much looking forward to this.
My tickets arrived the other day as well.

replayed this great old youtube link with guy leblanc. made me dig what a fab choice he was for keyboards in 2013 with enthusiasm for organ and back catalogue. cop the comments at 2:45 on the proposed farewell tour setlist before he had to leave. wonder if some of those songs will be included shocked

Apart from Pete Bardens....... Who would you consider to be the best keyboard player to replace him. I only saw Camel once live in Sheffield and was disappointed hearing Ton Scherpenzeel play, but to give Ton a chance he probably did not have a lot of time to practice any of the tracks!.... Ton will probably be my first choice, followed by Guy Leblanc and Jan Schelhaas!...

Kit Watkins is my favorite Camel keyboardist. His sound and solos were just so complete. Together with Andy's guitar sound and solos, it's just a joy to listen to.

I actually did forget about Kit!... shocked Yes, the pairing was great!! smiley

With all these announcements made via the organizers, I'm surprised Camel Productions did not send the fans who were on their mailing list with the upcoming news, even if the news needed to be confirmed later!... CP were at one point good at updating us even if it took some time, but at least for us fans we had some hope to look forward too! wink smiley

I've got some great memories of Ton Scherpenzeel back in 1984 Sationary Traveller tour, the first time I heard Lady Fantasy live on stage in Heerlen (the netherlands) "at the birthday of a very special lady" quoting Andy Latimer himself cool cool cool cool cool wink

yesir one of the groovy things about camel is the amazing keyboard players passing thu the revolving doors. remember david sinclair on the breathless tour? and richie close? but if i had to pick one replacement for peter b it would be leblanc, his licks on the rajaz tour took me to a new planet

Technically it has to be Kit Watkins. His playing on 'ICSYHFH' and the '79 - '82 tours is stunning. Also, listen to the first two Happy the Man albums if you haven't heard them, which is what amazed Latimer and Ward so much that they invited him to join Camel.
