Lately I've been listening to "On The Road - '82' alot.
I don't understand why it always gets bad reviews (well, maybe besides the fact that The Single Factor is considered a weak album).

Anyway, I really dig this recording - really great sound, you can hear all instruments very well.
Plus many (relatively) rare live numbers: You Are The One, Neon Magic, Who We Are, Manic, Wait, Heroes.
And what amazing solos on Lies and Never Let Go by Andy... shocked
I think there were great energies on this recording.

The only downside is that you can barely hear the crowd, but that's it.

This is a firm favourite of mine! A superb album and as you say, the Lies and Never Let Go versions feature Andy L on topform! Great renditions!! Lovely album smiley

I do like the album, but not one of my fave line-ups of Camel really. I love ' Lies ' though, really great! smiley

What do I think? Well personally I supported Andy for him to make a good recovery, not especially to get more music out of him. That's my thoughts. smiley

I'm a big fan of this tour too. Album was a bit patchy (like Yes Union) but they seemed to be in a great celebratory mood for the tour (also like the Yes Union Tour).

The crowd is mixed better on the radio show from this date torrented on Yeeshkul (account required):
http://www.yeeshkul.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14568&highlight=camel
As well as better mixing it has the advantage of having the Rhayader/Goes To Town encore, though missing a couple of songs which CP retrieved from their soundboard tape for the album.

Could 2012 be the year of the Camel? wink

Maybe the silence of late simply is because they're so busy recording a new album.. cool

Anyway... Ok..... Camel rule !!!!!

I would love to think so, but although Andy's health seems to have improved I took Rajaz as a final send off. I haven't written off the idea that Andy might someday release new material, but for me Rajaz was a fitting climax to Camel and Andy has enough respect among us die-hard proggers to release material under his own name, or whatever appropriate pseudonym. But hey that's just my perception.

Hoggy, what about A Nod and a Wink which was the last album? Rajaz is excellent but he did sneak in another album after that mate smiley

Listened to 'Nude' yesterday. Still can't get over how crackingly loud Andy Ward's snare is on the album. Love the deliberate simplicity of his playing on 'City Life' - basically just bass drum and snare throughout.

Latimer's solo on 'Lies' is sublime .... one of best guitar solos you'll ever hear. Superbly constructed and played with incredible emotion, economy, technique and tone. He really makes the guitar a 'voice' in this one. How can any warm blooded being not be moved?
