Yeah let's keep this thread alive.

Hard to say which is my fave album....it often depends on my moods...some days it's Moonmadness other days it's Mirage, other times it's Rajaz and then other times it's Stationary Traveller.....I can say without a doubt that my fave track is The Hour Candle from Harbour of Tears....sends shivers down my spine EVERY time I hear it...my fave album from a production point of view is Rajaz....sounds so crisp and neat....

Would love something from CP to let us know of any plans for 2011 or whenever. Been a long time waiting for new Camel sounds notwithstanding the whole trauma that Andy and Susan have been through. It would be a wonderful year if we received news of anything music wise - even one song would get me giddy.

Hello all..been a while hope eveyone is ok!!
Yes let's keep this forum alive..it's great to read everything you post!!
Need to keep the spirit of Camel going!!
A little dissapointed at the lack of official news since the flurry of activity around the DVD release, but hey..let's keep the faith...I'm sure Mr. Lat. will deliver soon!!
In terms of albums, even though there is a place in my heart for all Camel releases, for me it would have to be the period of the ' Goose, Moonmadness and Rain Dances. Mirage is close but I sort of worked backwards here!
In my english literature class way back in 1975, the book study of the month was Paul Gallicos' Snow Goose. A very short but poignent sory, it somehow stuck a chord with me. Coincidentely the film version starring the late Richard Harris was aired on BBC Tv around the same time. In a very strange period of occurances, the sister of a friend of mine(her name was Karen Eagle) brought into the classroom one day, a vinyl LP called the Snow Goose by some group going by the name of Camel. (So I can say I was introduced to a Camel by an Eagle!!!). As the book was being studied by us, our teacher had the forethought to play the album to us...from the moment I heard it I was caught, hook, line & sinker. I could not get enough of this muisc! At the time I was an aspiring musician myself (finally settling on the drums), but I played the album constantly in my bedroom, sometimes 4 or 5 times a night, trying to imagine I was the drummer, bass player, keyboardist or guitarist in the band, and trying to emulate their parts. You may have thought that I would have gotten heartily sick of it, but it was not the case...in fact still listening to it today I can take something fresh and new from the album. This led on to me purchasing Moonmadness, before working my way back through the "Mirage" and "Camel" albums.
I first saw Camel in Cardiff in 1976.. I was standing in the foyer of the now bulldozed Cardiff Capitol Theatre during the soundcheck...the sound of Andy Latimers' guitar bleeding through the walls of the theatre actually gave me goosebumps, and I am pleased to say I have never lost that feeling, especially when I have gotten to experience the absolute thrill of seeing Camel live...I just pray I can get to see them live one more time soon!
Cheers to all
Peter

Not really disappointed at lack of news here, as I gathered from the last news that anything new would take some time. Just a bonus if it happens, as far as I'm concerned. I was just so happy to get the DVD! smiley smiley

Let's keep this tread alive! All Camel fans, rejoyce!!! Surely there must be something to discuss..... Just to keep it alive (while awaiting news from CP) What is your favourite Camel studio album, and why?

M,I love them all, for different reasons, but Dust and Dreams still makes me cry of joy, because I became a father for the first time when it came out. It became a sort of a personal album for me.. But I DO have fond memories of each and everyone of these albums, so I would like to have yours. Come on, it's Camel..Not a boy scout bandsmiley I just LOVE this band!!Please, DO answer...

Thanks for sharing about ' Dust and Dreams ' Sahara. I love all the albums too, as you know. wink smiley

At this moment I'd choose ' Rajaz '. It's pretty special to me for various reasons, and the title track is very comforting, as I lost a loved one around that time. Really love the song and the whole album.

My favorite album is one of Moonmadness and Nude.
In the past couple of years I've been having a soft spot for the mid period (Raindances - Stationary Traveller), and been playing The Single Factor quite a few times. I really liked the 2-keyboard Camel sound, very "orchestral" if you like.

Hoping to hear news from CP.

If I had to choose a favourite, it would be 'A Live Record', since it was the first one I actually owned. I had already heard their first few albums & until that time, it was 'Mirage'.

However, the one I Listen to most these days is 'Harbour Of Tears'.

Roll on the next release date!

Good choice Squigs! smiley. My favourite also. Listening to NLG always brings back memories of when I saw Camel at the Town and Country Club in Old Kentish Town (think that's where it was). Right from the first chords of the opening track 'Never Let Go' I was Mesmerised and spent most of the evening with my jaw on the floor. The band seemed to be in perfect harmony and the quality of the mix was as good as I've ever heard. It was the power and passion that blew me away though. Unforgettable!, and I still smile to my self when I think of it after all these years. cool

I'm very keen on that middle period myself.
In fact, after Moonmadness, I'd say Raindances and ICSYHFH rounds out my top 3.
Hard to say what would come next Nude, perhaps.

Strangely enough, I'm usually disappointed when prog bands take a commercial-sounding turn, but I really like Camel's so-called poppier albums, Breathless, ICSYHFH and Stationary Traveller.

That seems to contrast with views of long-time fans but then I'm a comparatively new fan (got into them about 5 years ago) so I wasn't following them when these changes were occurring.

From Progression magazine

New Camel album planned
2011-04-14

Progression learned today of a new Camel album being recorded. Apparently, guitarist/main man Andy Latimer has fully recovered from myelofibrosis for which he needed a bone marrow transplant and is working on tracks with drummer Denis Clement. More on this as news becomes available.
