I truly hope you all enjoy the Opening Farewell. I know it was a long time coming, but I think you'll agree it was worth the wait. Although different in its atmosphere than Coming of Age, it really turned out quite exciting, full of beauty as well as energy. You can really tell the guys are having fun.

Let me know what you think...

Cheers;

News of the new album by one-time Camel member, Dave Sinclair....album features a certain Mr. Latimer!!!

Release date: February 2011

Another 'Canterbury Music' masterpiece !

After five years, the big 'Crescent' label project is finished.

Canterbury's first class melody maker, Dave Sinclair's great new studio album ' Stream', will be available soon.

On this album, the track 'Sad Eyes' features Robert Wyatt's vocal, 'Springwater' is a vivid and fluent piano solo piece, and the three great 'Canterbury' musicians, R. Wyatt, J.Hastings, and D. Sinclair come together for the beautiful finale, 'Stream'. These are just some examples of what must be Dave's finest album to date.

Guest musicians include:

Robert Wyatt ( ex Soft Machine, Matching Mole ) : Vocal & Cornet
Jimmy Hastings : Flutes, Clarinets, & Soprano Sax
Andy Latimer ( Camel ) : Electric Lead Guitar
Annie Haslam ( Renaissance ) : Vocal
Barbara Gaskin ( Stewart & Gaskin ) : Vocal
Dave Stewart ( Stewart & Gaskin ) : Keyboard & Arrangement
Doug Boyle ( ex Robert Plant Band / ex Caravan ) : Acoustic & Electric Guitar
Fred Baker : Bass
Morgan Fisher ( ex Mott The Hoople ) : keyboard
Derby Cathedral Choir
Yoshitaka Enomoto : Drums & Percussion
and many others.

(For people wishing to purchase outside of Japan, the release dates may be slightly later than advertised.)

Mine dropped through the letterbox this morning smiley
Obviously it needs full attention and reviewing, but flicking through it I can see that DM & the guys made a superb job. Camera work and lighting are outstanding, best yet for a Camel DVD. Sound is mellow, somewhat similar in mix to the NEARfest soundboard if you know that one, though of course more polished and without the rough edges. Band and audience look to be having a lot of fun, plenty of on-stage energy. Looking forward to exploring it further as soon as I am free.

PS. Got my name wrong which I am actually delighted with since there wasn't an "anonymous" option for donors cool

Could have just said you wanted " anonymous " or " alivecamel "! cheesy

The DVD is really brilliant isn't it?! Agree with you about the lighting, it's really good, and the sound mix is excellent. Most of all, the band's playing, energy and interaction is a pleasure to watch! smiley smiley smiley

If there was an option for a nic as well as named address then I missed it. Expect there was to allow for gifts. Oh well, my new alias will do just fine grin

Nice to compare this with the old BBC Sight & Sound Squigs, as the stage and camera setup is somewhat similar. Music is as dynamic and emotional as BBC despite the fact only one of the musicians played both gigs.

Brave to record on the opening night! Most live releases are taken from late in the tour when the songs are inevitably more thoroughly rehearsed. Fantastic that my persoal favourite, Stationary Traveller was in the set at this time.

Love the vocals of Andy & Colin, both individually and harmonized. I just plain disagree with the old gripe about Camel lyrics/vocals not being up to par: coming as they do from the heart, they complement the music perfectly in time-honoured blues tradition.
