« Thread started on: Nov 1st, 2009, 5:36pm »

Phil has told Germany newspaper, Hamburger Abendblatt, that he plans a new CD that will feature covers of 30 songs from the Motown label in 2010. "I want the songs to sound exactly like the originals," the paper quoted him as saying.

Anyone in the slightest bit interested?

Nope, me neither tongue

Sorry Mal going to have to disagree with you there!

I think its a great idea, its certainly going to be different to his back catalogue! I'm not keen on Motown, but I'm keen to hear the results. smiley

I like Motown, always have but I'm not sure there's currently a craving from the general audience for this kind of music, moreover, personally I'm not crazy about Motown covers from anyone... Including Phil

He said he had a whole batch of songs ready, why doesn't he work on and release those? What is it with the G-Gents these days? With Steve's exception they seem eager to embark on any new project...Provided it is not a new record . I know people in general are no longer interested but I can't sense any Motown-craze around either...

Right but Rod is not a songwriter so he always have to rely on these kind of projecs or others to write some material.

I know that but this is not what he is known for I'd say. He penned a few hits but he's not the most prolific writer and I don't think he has written anything in years
