Haha. I got a kick out of that too and figured Henry would either post that one or the green one.

Gonna have to bust his chops a bit this weekend at Laura's for sure! wink

Well he doesn't. Never has. I won't taint this thread with his opinions. Remember he saw Genesis (W&W), Peter twice (once with me) & Steve a few times so he has some redeeming features. grin

If I go to this it will just be the one show as I'm not the massive fan that I can tell ericm & Henry are. My days of multiple shows ended the last time I saw the Eagles. They were the only band I ever did that for.

Damn!!

Shut out three separate days/times for tix to a Bruce book signing, including one only a half hour from my home. sad No NYC or Philly tix either. I expected it to be tough but thought I might get lucky for one of em.

Oh well, looks like I'll just have to fork over the $30 or whatever for an unsigned copy. Waiting in line for a couple of hours with a $30 ticket for a signed book and pic with the Boss would've been worth it but no way am I paying $350 just for a signed book. $350 for a signed book from his site while a limited quantity is worth it to some, I think I'll pass on that.

Have fun, I'm sure you will! I missed out this time courtesy of a busted clutch in my old jalopy that's cost me over $1500!

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on the show but glad to hear you thought it was wonderful. smiley

Btw, your show is available for purchase here:
http://m.live.brucespringsteen.net/bsmobile.asp#show?show=15177&year=2017

I have the Philly1 show I went to and the sound quality is fantastic. Well worth the $20 or so to have my show to listen to and relive. cool

Thanks! I will buy the CD!

This is what I wrote on another message board:

Wow! What a night! I wasn't sure if I was really a Springsteen concert person because while I consider myself a fan I don't have that many of his albums. Most of the first few songs weren't familiar to me, but I especially liked American Land with its Celtic rhythms, a paean to the immigrants who contributed so much to the USA. (I am not making any political points. I just enjoyed the song, and I will say the same about American Skin (41 Shots) and Youngstown.

Bruce was in superb voice throughout. He is a much more powerful & emotive singer than he was in his young, scruffy days. He put so much emotion into songs like I'm On Fire & Downbound Train, while making the crowd just enjoy themselves in No Surrender. How he did Hungry Heart, where the audience sang the first verse & then he crowd surfed while still singing, I don't know. He did a few songs without a guitar and I have to say that as a guitarist he is more the Guitar George from Sultans Of Swing type, meaning strictly rhythm for the most part. The famous Telecaster was swung around to great effect.

So I finally got to see Roy Bittan who added so much to the Making Movies album by Dire Straits, and the other legendary members Steven Van Zandt (I don't feel enough of an insider to call him 'Little Stevie' though he is certainly short), Max Weinberg, Nils Lofgren & Mrs Springsteen, Patti Scialfa. Then of course we had Clarence Clemons' nephew Jake on sax. He was excellent.

I was surprised by the cover versions. I loved Long Tall Sally because Little Richard or not, it's a Beatles song to me. I was less convinced by (Meet Me At) Mary's Place by Sam Cooke. Shout was a bit predictable. I was getting tired by then. You will note that Because The Night is listed as a Patti Smith cover! Bruce wrote it! It was a highlight!

Of the really famous songs I am not sure why he closed with Bobby Jean, a song which I regard as ordinary, but I could hardly complain after the stirring versions of No Surrender, Downbound Train & I'm On Fire. Downbound Train, a song I have always loved, was a personal highlight. Badlands was awesome. Of the Born To Run songs, Candy's Room was a surprise. I have always struggled with Jungleland but it worked pretty well. Thunder Road featured a superb performance by the audience on the first verse, whjich Bruce said was 'very good' .Born To Run itself was just a mesmeric, joyous trip.

Thanks for posting your review. cool It sounds like you were treated to a fun night.

I agree with you about Bobby Jean also. He closed the Philly show with that as well. While I would've rathered something else, I'm not gonna complain when he throws in a bonus number.

Personally I think it's just that at the end. A bonus song recognized by pretty much all in attendance, while an easy or one that requires little effort to play live at the end of a marathon show. It's not like a Glory Days or something where he needs to go all out and keep the crowd jumping. It's also kind of an "ode to" or him saying thanks, goodbye, good luck to the crowd as he's saying in the song to Bobby Jean.

I'm glad you had a good show and lastly, if he and when he tours Australia agin, would you go to another show? I know it's not a cheap night but that aside, would you go again?

I know I'm spoiled here with all the opportunities to see his shows living in his home state, but the fun and energy at his shows are what keeps me coming back again and again. That and the huge catalog of tunes he has with the chance to catch some rarities is a huge draw for me.

Yes, I thought about the message of Bobby Jean later & it made more sense.

I would go again, yes. I started reading the autobiography while in hospital & discovered a great deal more about Bruce than I knew. And as you say it would probably be a completely different show when he comes back (which he will I would think).
