A great gig by John Lees' Barclay James Harvest at the cosy Lowry Theatre in Manchester last night.
The set list was as follows:
For No One The Great 1974 Mining Disaster Poor Wages Iron Maiden Child of The Universe Loving is Easy (X-Rated) Light at the End of the World Poor Man's Moody Blues Galadriel Harbour Suicide? Medicine Man In Search of England H'ors d'oeuvres Mocking Bird The Poet After the Day
She Said Hymn
The band were on top form and i must say that Woolly's interaction with the audience between songs was excellent! Ned described him as eccentric and i couldn't agree more! The highlights for me were For No One, Medicine Man, Suicide? and After The Day. Both Woolly and John signed CD's after the gig. The guitar work from John was fabulous and he has a sound all of his own. Pity he didn't say much during the concert but i guess that is just the way he is?
Thanks for the great company of friends including the Music man himself Nedflanders, James T and our friend Michael The drive down gave a great opportunity for some banter and listening to some great music (including the awesome Tick Tock

Hear hear.
A wonderful night and a superb concert. To add to Demo Man's comments, John was superb on the guitar but he does need to learn to stop dressing like a tailor's dummy and just put on a shirt and jeans. Wooly is not only a really funny man but he is so integral to the band sound. His talent is amazing and his mellotron and other sounds are what BJH is all about. Funnily enough, it was his material which came over as the best stuff although everything was wonderful.
It is no coincidence that the material from the band is from the best period 69-78. My favourite songs on the night, and my own personal favourites were:
She Said Iron Maiden Suicide
and best for me
The Poet/After the Day
This brought the hairs on the neck and arms to full attention. My all time fav song of the band.
Wonderful time with the other lads, great to see my old mate Colin again and also to have James T's company.
As for Tick Tock ?(rubbish) and much preferred the sub-standard produced new Icon III CD No, my first 2 listens to the album told me that this is a contender for 2009's album of the year.

Was hoping it might be Hull, but never mind. Maybe I'll see them another time.
Must say, I'd rather not see Stray supporting the Groundhogs!

Gary Moore - Friday night
Am SO excited !!!!!!
He was Keith's all time favourite ........ and I love him to bits too - but have never seen him live..... Keith saw him loads !!!
So long as he doesn;t do The Messiah Will Come Again (which is highly unlikely) I shall be ok !!!!!!
