Hey - page 8 already and also this most popular thread in this section
Let's keep it going guys. There's plenty of stuff happening in the TFK camp this year and loads more images of Scarlet on a google search so lots to keep us going
|
|
Not bad - but I bet you can't put a Rowntree's Fruit Pastille in your mouth without chewing it!
And yes, it is a nice sofa!

Well, remember what I said about blondes in my pm?
If Scarlett was coming on to me (so to speak), I'd have to say to her "Scarlett love, just leave it alright. I don't do blondes", (so to speak), "Just lie there and let me look at your sofa".
That's what I'd say to Scarlett, the cheeky moo. Who does she think she is just coming over and asking me out like that?
Some women, eh?
Mind you, I bet she's a Flower Kings fan with a surname like that. She might even be related. She'd have more chance with me if she could sing all the words to "Stardust We Are", I can tell you. Even if she is blonde.
Now, where were we? Ah yes, I've got 7 blokes coming up for a lads night tonight, I'd better get on with the chilli.......

Nov that's not a good picture to show to a man who's just turned single again , my blood pressure can't take it
Ok back on topic I have gave the first disc of Paradox a spin but won't pass judgement until i have given both discs a few plays first . Recent experience tells me you have to let FK grow on you until they are inside your head.

Maybe you can find someone new who looks like Scarlett?

The thing is with bands, once they've got in your head and your soul, you're prepared to give them the necessary time required for any new purchase. There are so many bands out there producing decent prog rock that it's sometimes hard to discern the ones who are producing amazing prog rock and some people write these amazing bands off after only a couple of listens. In fact, wasn't this just like you until recently?
Luckily, you were saved from your Flower Kings wilderness period gooner, so I'm sure you'll like PH once you're used to it. Obviously, over the course of any album of such length there's the odd tracks that even I can't cope with (Bavarian Skies ) but 90% of it is amazing.

No worries , these things happen we were together 10 year ( married 4) but just drifted apart , getting back on my feet now and the music helps me a lot. Maybe I will meet a prog loving girl , that would be great

I have had Space Revolver and Truth for over a year now but after a couple of plays I it didn't grab me and I moved onto Morse/Spocks (discovered Snow which I adore) which is a bit more accessable when you first hear it.But because of this thread in the previous forum I went back to it and it truly hit me and I feel I am on a new journey with this new sound and many more albums to try yet.

I know I will love it just haven't had the chance tp play it all yet , I will keep you posted.

Well, several forum members form the old board have seen us (The Phantoms) at The Grey Horse in Kingston including the keyboard player from ReGenesis and G2 (Piers de Lavison). Also, Nikki is hopefully going to come to our next gig at the same venue on June 2nd so you'll be in good company. Where abouts do you live gooner?
This was the last set we played:
Set 1 1. Beautiful Day 2. Steppin Stone 3. Back in the USSR 4. Living for the Weekend 5. 20th Century Boy 6. Bohemian Like You 7. Breakfast at Tiffany’s 8. All the Small Things 9. I Fought the Law 10. Ever Fallen in Love 11. Mrs Robinson 12. Fix You Set 2 13. Take Me Out 14. All These Things That I’ve Done 15. Teenage Kicks 16. Monster 17. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor 18. Buck Rogers 19. Alright 20. I Predict a Riot 21. Dizzy 22. I’m a Believer 23. Common People 24. Chelsea Dagger 25. Run
Encore 26. Song 2 27. Wonderful World

Shame about the rest of it, eh?
My Wife's Brother lives in Tonbridge and he (and his wife) often come over to Kingston to see us.
It's be great to have a few people from this forum at the next gig.

Back on topic again, I have so far resisted the urge to explore The Flower Kings, as there is just so much great stuff out there at the moment. Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Riverside, Satellite etc, etc, etc. I have one FK DVD which I've seen once, and to-day found Retropolis at a local car boot sale for £2 I'll play it tomorrow in the car and see what happens

We're so lucky that there are so many great "new" bands around at the moment. Rest assured though, that The Flower Kings are right up there with them and, for me, the best.

Hope you enjoy it Mal but give it the necessary 5 or 6 listens before forming an opinion. There's some great stuff on that album .

Well, just thought I would inform the world at large that I have now ordered Instant Delivery Special Edition from Amazon.UK, and hope to have it by the weekend. Now I really am looking forward to that immensely. If it's a let down, I will be round to various forum members houses to complain vehemently that I have been misled and misinformed! (Can't say which members or Nov and Nikki will be prepared for me!)

Yep, I'd say Retropolis is a great album, maybe better than Paradox to my ears.
Those bands that Mal mentioned are real hard to top. TFK? maybe getting there
Hey, keep up the good work Nov and others....
