I think Three Sides Live is the most creative.

As a teenager, the mysterious and somewhat unsettling cover of Genesis Live is one of the things that drew me to band. In the early 80's, in the US, there weren't a lot of pictures available from the Gabriel era other than the album photos, which were always weird and fascinating. In fact, it wasn't until A History was released in 1990 that I saw some of early footage.

Yes, I remember being quite captivated by that cover, staring at the front and back photos, that stage draped in blue light, everyone seated and hunched over their instruments, and those bizarre costumes.

When it comes to live albums, I always prefer covers showing the band performing.
Seconds Out is a nice photo too but I give the nod to Genesis Live for its magnetic appeal.
As a youth, even after I bought it, whenever I saw it on display in a record store, it drew my eye and for that moment, nothing else in the room mattered.

Definitely Genesis Live for me. It was my induction into the world of Genesis and the magnetic appeal of that sleeve (as others have described it) has never left me.

Second's Out is probably a classier sleeve and being a double they had an opportunity of using it to great effect, which they certainly did.

I remember my heart sinking when I first saw a copy of Three Sides Live - how dull and cheap the front cover looked in comparison to their earlier live albums.

Seconds out for me: elegant, classy, evocative and atmospheric. It seems the 4-man era only produced brilliance, both visually and musically.

I voted for Genesis Live. I don't find any of the live album covers to be great though.

My favourite is Genesis Live followed by Seconds Out. I don't think the others are that great.

Almost. One has actual photos while the other has coloured silhouettes.

I agree the that the first two albums are the strongest. Each captures the band in a representative shot of how they came across onstage. I can't really pick.

Yup.

To me, Genesis were truly represented by their live performances, and the covers of those first two live albums capture a glimpse of that.

I did not see the Gabriel era Genesis live, but I did see them on the tour that produced Seconds Out. I can still remember walking into the local record store and seeing Seconds Out on the display rack for the first time. In no uncertain terms, I "plotzed".

Yeah, that was Genesis live.

It is now, with the Live boxset release (which also features a remixed sound and full-and properly ordered-setlist, which is awesome). But originally they were released in two separate volumes-the shorts and the longs. The Longs had the same general design but it was multicolored instead of black and white. The sleeve notes were also different.

I actually voted for TWWW Volume 2. Mostly for nostalgic reasons, as it was one of the first CDs I ever bought as a kid-and it was the release that first exposed me to Genesis' pre Invisible Touch era music, sparking a years-long journey of discovery into their back catalogue. Those were great times!

Style-wise, I'd probz vote for LOE 2007. I just like that stage setup, and as HENRY just mentioned-IMO just like Live and Seconds Out, it represents what a Genesis concert looks like live. It's very reminiscient of Live and Seconds Out in that way...
