Not sure if this is fake news or not, but several websites are reporting today that Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel are discussing the possibility of a Genesis reunion.

I would love it to be true, but I don't know how reliable that site is.
We can but hope...

Well, as I said there are several websites running the story. Who knows, though?

I may be wrong, but this bit of info does seem to be more legit than any of the other items that circulate about this topic. So, I wouldn't regard it as a "fake news".

Essentially it's just Steve saying he's been reaching out to Peter, and he's being cautious about getting any hopes up.

On a positive note, both Peter and Phil are, or are becoming, active once again. So I think there is a hint of promise here.

The problem is that these days even non-legitimate stories can be circulated fairly quickly. But the phony ones are usually much easier to spot or confirm. I have no reason to believe that this one is not true, for what it is.

Good to know!.... smiley

Steve's the only member to keep Genesis music alive nowadays!.... Would love a comeback and possible live album too. Let's hope Mike and Tony are up to it!...

Hmmm, that's not strictly true. PG did Genesis stuff, or at least one anyway, on this tour with Sting. And he tried to persuade his band to do Supper's Ready... but said the reaction he got was not good.

Sounds like a challenge to "Supper's Ready".

If talks about a reunion are actually progressing, I hope one thing: that they realise that it doesn't have to be big.

They don't have to play The Lamb in its entirety (which by the way I think was a really lousy idea back in 2005 when they met). And they don't have to do a long tour, they don't even have to do a full concert. Simply, the only thing they have to do is what they want themselves. They don't have to feel obliged to play certain songs, they'll just pick the ones they feel comfortable playing.

Perhaps Pink Floyd's reunion with Roger in 2005 at Live 8 can be a source for inspiration, regarding ambition? That was 23 minutes, but damn good 23 minutes! Let that be a minimum ambition, and anything beyond that is a bonus.

I hope the reunion won't happen.
It would be pathetic seeing those grandfathers playing music from the previous century.
I prefer remembering them younger and capable.
