Hi there

It was avery strange experience for me after seeing the premiere in London and having the five of them sitting only a few feet behind me to being at the One Show the following day and have the three of them come over and shake my hand at the end of it. Despite all the controversy over this project the individual people remain thoroughly decent in my experience which isn't always the case with rock musicians I can tell you!

Indeed, they all remain super nice guys and are still a joy to work with.

Now, what about that 77 footage? wink

Hi all,

After the premiere they were whisked off quickly to a party in a nice part of London to celebrate Mike Rutherford's birthday.

Sadly the invitations didnt stretch as far down to us but there are always other times.

"The original famous phrase of Gestalt psychologist Kurt Koffka, "The whole is other than the sum of the parts" is often incorrectly translated as "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" and thus used when explaining gestalt theory, and further incorrectly applied to systems theory. Koffka did not like the translation. He firmly corrected students who substituted "greater" for "other", "This is not a principle of addition" he said. The whole has an independent existence."

And "Gestalt" could easily have been translated as "shape" or "form". rolleyes

Hello,

Sum Of The Parts is getting TV air time in America still.

Its not the whole or full story so that is where the title might be apt.

Hi there

Or completely misleading depending on how well you know the band's story in the first place.

I notice that Mike has come out and said that Steve "got a raw deal"

Having said that they obviously are trying to mend fences and that is all good.

I still haven't bought it yet to be honest and if you asked me I honestly cannot tell you why not.... embarassed

It did take me a few years to get The Genesis Songbook though wink

.....and I did buy RKive...Not played it yet but it is in my collection for completeness of course

Best wishes

John

Hi there

It is just a shame that it has taken them so long to admit that they goofed. The documentary itself was not that bad but they way it was assembled and marketed as something it patently was not is what has upset so many people I think.

I finally watched this, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I boycotted it for a while because I had heard the "Tony Banks revisionist history" comments and how Steve was ignored. But then I decided hell, I'll buy it.

I had a very positive emotional reaction to it. I was surprised to see clips from very old live footage including some with Anthony Phillips. Why aren't we seeing a Blu-ray of these concert performances?

Overall, I thought it was much better than Genesis Songbook, which I ended up selling back (but now that I am back in the Genesis collector mode I am wondering if I need this again--do I?....UPDATE, I just re-ordered it, LOL. You can't go wrong with 6 dollars.)

It's certainly worse than Songbook.
Atomic Sunrise footage is silent and not owned by management, hence why it's not released

Why do you prefer Songbook? I'll be rewatching it soon. When I first bought it I remember being very disappointed by it. The bonus features and performances seemed very depressing for some reason. But maybe now that time has passed and my attitude has changed I'll see it differently.

It has a broader and fuller coverage of the band by the band themselves and not by some unknown talking heads that have little knowledge of what they are talking about.
It also covers the Ray period which SOAP seems to have forgotten about...

Fair enough. For some reason, I thought the talking heads were entertaining, especially the chick who critiqued Gabriel's sexuality and self confidence.
