Unfortunately that was only me joking. wink The extra thirty minutes are additional individual interviews. According to a review Phil appears rather depressed when talking about the future, so one might want to skip that part.

No Genesis documentary has been flawless, but yes it would seem that Wind and Wuthering is missing.

But then in Songbook Abacab is missing

etc

Hi there

Yes indeed, Abacab is missing from the Songbook but at least ALL of the membere were properly represented in that project something which cannot be said for this one in all fairness.

Alan,

No Genesis documentary in the past or present has got it near the mark of perfection.

Solo careers have been missed out, Brand X has been missed out, original early members missed out.

Not every album or tour or single have been mentioned.

So none of them are 90% right, expectations are always high.

A Beatles Anthology approach is the best approach, but such a thing would require lots of people buying it at around 49.99 as the Beatles Anthology DVD boxset was priced.

TV station/Channel footage would need a huge team to find it and get all the legal work completed.

Performance footage would require the same.

Etc.

Genesis on Nationwide had its faults

Genesis on a History had its faults and omissions

Genesis on the Songbook had its faults and omissions

Genesis on Sum of The Parts had its faults and omissions.

Annoyingly it seems par for the course, the common theme is Genesis. Perhaps they are the Spinal Tap of Documentaries.

Hi there

Did I ever say any of the Genesis documentaries were "perfect"? I think not. Some have come closer than others and the current effort has perhaps more serious omissionns and errors in it than some that have gone before it. That is evident from the furore it has generated.

Alan in fairness you didnt imply that any other documentary was perfect.

We suspect people are angry for a variety of reasons, the way in which R kive was announced on Facebook can only have been the worst PR in history.

Many people who posted back in August expected the announcement to be a reunion tour, not a lot of hype over a compilation.

So with all that anger in abundance the next port of attack was the documentary and boy did people make their feelings known.

Hi there

And deservedly so as it is a sloppily researched and sloppily edited end result as anyone who has seen it can attest. The fact that the band themselves are placing distance between them and the documentary and in once case actually disowning it says more about it than anything I can.

But to those of us who expected only a compilation, for a reunion was never on the cards, the PR on R-Kive was a triumph compared to the documentary!

There will probably never be a perfect documentary on any band, but boy, did T&A miss the target. By 180 degrees. I suspect it was shooting the spectators! wink

Hi there

Who exactly do you mean by "they"? Tony? Mike? Phil? Peter? The management? You certainly can't level the accusation of not caring about his part in Genesis at Steve as he has been the only one carrying any kind of torch for this music over the last ten or so years.
