We've all got at least one album tucked away in the vinyl/cd/download collection somewhere that just has no right or reason to be there.

I tend not to keep anything like that around for long! Am I the only one?

For years my answer to this would have been Bjork - Debut but listened to it recently and rather enjoyed it.

I think you mean Robert Miles but never mind and no need to apologise exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. wink. Do you still own it and when was it last played?

I own Robert Miles' Dreamland album too, indeed it was the first CD I ever bought. I was a little disappointed back then and I never play it too often (last time I played it must be a couple years ago) but it's not that bad I'd regret having bought it.

cheesy Heehee, as a part-time deejay in the '80s I had to have all the big soundtracks... Flashdance, Footloose, Fame, Beverly Hills Cop, Dirty Dancing.... Top Gun is probably the worst. wink

Surely with music if it is a pleasure it is not worthy of being called guilty. I am not ashamed to like what I like. But I have bought some dud stuff in my time and I do tend to get rid of it after a while to make space for new stuff I really like.

There is one that can still make the rest seem acceptable and I still have a copy.

Soundtrack of The Woman in Red.

Though in this case I'm citing a defense of raging hormones and lust.
Never got the girl, hormones long since stopped raging but still have the cd.
Lost on all levels with this one. grin embarassed

Richard Marx - 'Repeat Offender' embarassed
Coheed and Cambria - 'Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV (20042006)' tongue
System of a Down - 'Toxicity'
Fred Frith - 'Guitar Solos' (as a 15 year old lad, I can't tell you how disappointing this album was!)

I do have stuff I'd describe as "guilty pleasures" (which I'd define as "music I wouldn't want anyone else to see me listening to"), but it doesn't fit the description of "no right or reason to be in my collection."

I suppose the closest anything in my collection gets to "stuff with no right or reason" would be a few things I don't listen to but only have because they were made by people I knew personally. I keep them separate from the music I listen to lest they be a bad influence on it!

Soundtrack for "The Talented Mr. Ripley".

I heard the song "Tu vuo fa l'Americano" on a party and asked the DJ what song it was. Went to the record store, asked for it, and they said it's on this soundtrack so I ordered it. The version on that soundtrack is a different one, not the one I had heard, and other than that the music is totally uninteresting for me. Complete waste of money.

Redeemed by the inclusion of Take my breath away, brilliant song, superbly sung. There was a TV show a few years back where people reprised soundtrack hits they'd done. Terri Nunn came on and I expected a disappointment. Couldn't have been more wrong, she was brilliant.
