xx UK Hit Singles By 1970s Prog Rock Acts - Part 2
« Thread started on: Mar 18th, 2014, 07:47am »

The above singles were successful UK hit singles for the listed artists. As per the previous poll not all of these are overly proggy but they are from prog acts of the time and have that 'prog' flavour.
Consider these polls a double Nigel whammy!

I'm a bit torn! But think I'll go Argent - 'Hold Your Head Up'

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know many of those. embarassed Of those I do know, I'll vote for Manfred Mann's Earth Band, just ahead of The Moody Blues.

Ditto what Down and Out said: Question is an amazing song, but Joybringer is just altogether in a league of its own proggy goodness grin

I was hoping for Golden Earring with Radar Love, but, you know, maybe in part 3 smiley

Argent - 'Hold Your Head Up' is my fave out of those listed. Conquistador, Sylvia and Question are great, but HYHU holds a special place during my music discovery years. They all do really, but that one is the cherry on top.

Another good selection, Procal Harum for me as I grew up with this bands music and loved them. I like Manfred Man too, not familiar with Argent or Focus.

I also love Curved Air and Strawbs.. wink

Had to be the Moody Blues for me, obviously, A US #1, and a UK #2, held off the top spot by the England World Cup squad with "Back Home" which, ironically, they soon were.

That's a great list of songs though, and in the Moodies absence, I'm not sure who'd have got my vote out of Procol Harem, Focus, and Curved Air.
