Keeping it clean, I am not including The Rolling Stones, Kate Bush, or Tool.

I'm probably being incredibly stupid, for whilst I understand the Kate Bush and Tool references, I don't understand The Rolling Stones reference. embarassed grin

It actually took me a minute too, and I'm a dirty minded teenager.
I believe he is referring to "stones" as slang for testicles

On a side note, is it good? The only MO album I have is Tubular Bells.

Amarok is definitely not my favorite album from Mike Oldfield. But it is still not bad.

My favorites in no particular order would be:

Tubular Bells
Ommadawn
Incantations
Platinum
Exposed (one of my all time favorite live albums from any artist including Tubular Bells and Incantations)
QE 2
Five Miles Out
Crises
Discovery.

Many of the more recent albums are a bit flat and I can also live without most of the remakes of Tubular Bells.

Maybe that is more common slang in American English than it is in British English. undecided

Perhaps, but there are plenty of things we're more likely to call them grin

King Crimson - Islands
  1. Islands
  2. Song Of The Gulls
  3. Sailor's Tale
  4. Formentera Lady
  5. The Letters
  6. Ladies Of The Road
The last one of these is also one of my least favourite King Crimson tracks. Thankfully, the rest of the album is very good. cool

This one is almost impossible: IQ studio albums huh I love them all, so instead of ranking in order, here are scores out of 20:

Tales From The Lush Attic: 19
The Wake: 18
Nomzamo: 18
Are You Sitting Comfortably? 18
Ever: 19
Subterranea: 19
The Seventh House: 19
Dark Matter: 17
Frequency:19

Would be interested to hear what other think They're my favourite band. May 2014 sees a new album, so perhaps it will score 20/20

Prelude is pretty but boring. Ladies, behind its misogyny, is a nice hard rocker.

Favourite 9 progressive rock acts of the 1970s:

  1. Genesis
  2. Pink Floyd
  3. Rush
  4. Renaissance
  5. Mike Oldfield
  6. Steve Hackett
  7. Camel
  8. Jethro Tull
  9. Yes

Why 9? Because I can't think of a 10th! grin wink
