Surprised Henry didn't mention that last one.

Bah! Don't have it, and have yet to hear it. I should have bought it already but apparently no one around here is stocking it. Probably need to pick it up online. User Image

Got mine from Amazon, but my local Barnes & Noble has it. Same copy, sitting there for six months. sad

Ah yes there's been an Elbow release... maybe I need to investigate that one.

Four albums for me:

Anathema - Distant Satellites: A disappointment. It has some nice moments, and none of the tracks on it are bad, but it's definitely a big step down from the previous album, IMHO.

Coldplay - Ghost Stories: The exact opposite. I expected a big disappointment, but I was rather impressed. I think the album is beautiful in a melancholic and relaxing sort of way. When I hear this album, I feel like I'm laying on a cloud, gently drifting across the night-time skies.

Elbow - The Take Off And Landing Of Everything: Not too sure about this one. It's definitely a decent album with all the Elbow goodness you'd expect, but when I hear it, I can't help but feel like the stuff on it was done much better on the previous three albums. A good album, but I think they need to move on and make a faster, rockier record next time.

IQ - The Road Of Bones: Easily the best album this year. While I wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, what it does well, it does brilliantly. This album also helped me understand just how awesome IQ is. Excellent stuff.

I haven't yet purchase the IQ or Anathema albums yet. My top 3 albums of 2014 are as follows:

Gazpacho > Demon
Cosmograf > Capacitor
Transatlantic > Kaleidoscope

Tim Bowness' "Abandoned Dancehall Dreams" is pretty decent, as is Yes' "Heaven & Earth", but Asia's and Santana's albums are somewhat disappointing.

Just got this and like it on the first listen. Unfortunately I will be out of town when she plays the Toronto area in September.

Also got the Sarah McLachlan recently. I find it very good for the first half and then it tails off a bit. Am seeing her at Massey Hall later this fall.

Having just watched the eleven minute video on the making of the new Kaipa album, I have to say it's a strong contender for album of the year, for me anyway. Sounds fantastic! wink
