I'm certainly enjoying the ride! I've been bouncing around the band's 1976 - 1991 catalogue for a couple of months now...getting to know each album that is new to me with repeated listens. Soon I feel I'll be able to comment more on some of the more 'specialist' threads round these parts.

My walk to/from work is approx 25-30 mins so this fits in really well with treating the longer 70s albums in terms of their 'sides' of vinyl as a listening experience. E.g. this morning was "ATTWT"'s turn so I listened to 'Down and Out' (those drums!!!) through to 'Burning Rope'. Tonight it will be 'Deep...' through to 'Follow You...'. Great sounds on a wintery walk home in the gathering gloom.

I've got all the albums (including FGTR & CAS which I left until last). But getting to know them is taking a long time; hence I feel somewhat reluctant to offer many opinions on some of the older songs. I've just finished playing them all in the car. Other than that they come up on iPod shuffle, so the last track a couple of days ago was Burning Rope, which I really enjoyed, but I can't give a full critque of it yet.

Old fart mode on but I must say I am happy I discovered them in my teens, I certainly had more time and was far more receptive and intense, it is a period in life where memories are created and some of them are inextricably related to Genesis. To this day when I'm in a certain mood I go back to some of their songs and records and they conjure up colours, taste and feelings of those days....Memories. I sincerely doubt it would be the same today no matter how high my appreciation of their music would be. I'm also happy it happens in early 80s when the atmosphere of the past decade still lingered on and imho that was their most fruitful and intense decade. Finally, I am glad I discovered them on vinyl, it made the connection with the music and the art much more tangible and personal in a way.
