Well - actually 7.5/10 isn't too bad! smiley. But - you must agree TLL has one of the best outro's Genesis has ever played - and is one of Mike's best bass pieces!

You mean in the live version? Cause the fade-out in the studio version is not that special. huh

I have to agree. The ending of TLL is certainly interesting, but I wouldn't call it special. Still a solid track from a remarkable album. smiley

Did you mean to add Guide Vocal in the middle there? Unless you're referring to the reprise of the song contained within Duke's Travels (which is likely), I don't think this is allowed.

Not that special? I think it is one of the most exciting pieces that Tony, Mike & Phil play together!! shocked

Still - I guess we will have to agree to disagree! undecided

Knowing your Genesis tastes, it would probably be more of a challenge for you to do a top 20 of Hackett-era songs. wink

P.S. This is purely a comment and no criticism is implied.

I do like quite a lot of Hackett era stuff, but not usually as it was performed in the studio. Seconds Out and later live versions are always my favourites.....

Two notable exceptions:

Intro to FoF
Ripples

Oh, that part is not bad. It's just the fading that doesn't excite me too much, which is why I prefer the live ending. smiley

Yes - I mean ultimately no fade out is better than a fade out! But either way, the ending piece played by Mike, Phil & Tony is awesome!! wink

I wish the trio would have done more in this style.

Hurray!! Great minds think alike!! grin

I too wonder why they didn't do a few more songs like this! Mind you - I suppose every Genesis album has something different on it!

Yes. It's brilliant. I love Guide Vocal and its best in the reprise in Dukes Travels . So Dukes Travels if you like , but I stuck it in because it's a way of sneaking in an extra track. wink
That whole end section of Duke is my favourite bit of post Hackett Genesis. I don't think that section would work remotely as well without the reprise.
