question for John and all the other band members out there.

Are the songs you like to sing/play different to the ones you would say are your favourite to listen too ?

Thanks

Mat

Hi matey.

Good question and interesting to see if anyone else replies.......

I have sung all of my favourite Genesis songs ever with the exception of one in my days in FV/Mama/The one gig I did for Los Endos and the Children In Need gig I did in 2001. The only one left I would LOVE to sing live is 11th Earl Of Mar.

I am a Genesis FAN first and formost and will continue to listen to them a lot at home. I had Duke on the other day as it happens. wink

Best wishes

John

At this moment my top five is (in no particular order except for the first one):

Firth of Fifth (I think the only song by anyone that I never get tired of)
Entangled (right now mainly because of the lovely version by Ray that was recently posted on this forum! smiley)
Dreaming While You Sleep (deeply emotional singing and lyrics)
The Musical Box (very menacing and powerful, especially combined with the supernatural imagery)
Home by the Sea (same reason as The Musical Box)

Is that because listening to Ray's version has made you re-assess the original version? Or because you prefer Ray's version? I think that Ray's version is very tasteful, but would be very surprised if any Genesis fan preferred it to the original. Still, I suppose that anything is possible. wink

I think I've read that that is the only lyric on TLLDOB not written by Peter.

An almost impossible choice, but if I was absolutely forced to pick a Top 5, it would probably be:

1. Mama
2. Duchess
3. Entangled
4. Me and Sarah Jane
5. Dodo/Lurker

I've read that somewhere, too, although it's no reflection on the rest of the Lamb. It is in that song, however, where the lyric finally brings us close Rael, where we finally care what happens to him and feel his anguish at the choice he's got to make. The two verses in the The Light Dies Down are brilliant storytelling grin

I tried but I can't do it rolleyes I know that The Musical Box and The Cinema Show would be there, don't know exactly where but then I can't seem to even agree with myself.

Ummmm....

1. Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea
2. Land Of Confusion
3. Driving The Last Spike
4. Follow You, Follow Me
5. Dance On A Volcano

This changes all the time. I get fixes on certain songs. At the moment it's Jesus He Knows Me & Congo.
