Is anything by Genesis actually "overrated"? Do we mean overrated by some fans on the internet? Genesis don't exactly get lauded by the music press.

I think it's all underrated grin but the most underrated are Calling All Stations, From Genesis To Revelation, Invisible Touch and Abacab.

These are still possibly my 4 least favourite Genesis albums, but I think they're much better than some people tend to make out! tongue All good stuff wink

To each his/her own, absolutely.

There cannot be a debate in difference of opinions? Then why offer any opinion at all?

Well, fans who are not obsessed with 70's prog era stuff for example...

Odd, because it was the first album to reach No.1 in the UK, but not officially recognized because of the Christmas holiday, and "Your Own Special Way" was their "first charting single".

Lots of hardcore fans really like a couple of albums, (Gabe era, Phil era, whatever) but how official is that? Can you offer a source?

I suspect not.

Yeah, because we must assume that one's own opinion agrees with with some kind of unsubstantiated assessment.

I pretty much agree with the sentiments. For me even the Genesis albums which I regard as their weaker ones are better than at least 90% of the music out there. wink

huh huh

Wind & Wuthering never reached No 1 in the UK! - Infact their first No 1 album wasn't until 1980!!

And sadly Your Own Special Way was never a Top 40 hit either - (but it should've been)!!! undecided

"I Know What I Like" was the first charting single, assuming you're talking about England.

It depends what you mean by charting. Are you talking top 20, top 40 or top 100? wink

I've avoided posting in this thread. What I would say should be obvious to anybody... the concepts of "underrated" and "overrated" are meaningless without first defining by whom.

Wind and Wuthering is overrated.

Wind and Wuthering is underrated.

There. Case closed. grin

Of these four, the only one I really like is Invisible Touch.
