Most ingenious Genesis piece!

One thing that I think we all have in common here - is the fact that every once in a while Genesis create a stroke of Genious within their music & songs (usually when Tony is around)!
So which bit is your favourite stroke of genious?
For me it has to be the first 50 seconds of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway!

Maybe we should define ingenious but by the way I choose to interpret it, to me the whole Dancing with the Moonlight Night pretty much fits that definition: from the a cappella intro, through the different time signatures, the lyrics and the hypnotic outro. What I find stunning is that for all the diversity in one single song, it sounds incredibly tight and homogenous. Ingenious…

Three songs stand out for me:
The Cinema Show: Classical in structure but with possibly Tony's greatest ever solo and stunning work from Mike and Steve in the opening section. I love Peter's voice on this track as well.
Entangled: From the simple but plaintive accoustic guitar intro through the stunning harmonies in the chorus to the genius of the keyboard outro, this is one of the most superb songs I have ever heard.
Mama: No other band could have written this imho. From the brooding drum machine and Phils passionate vocals to the unexpected shock of "The Laugh" to the incredible vocals at the end section, this has to be my favourite Genesis single ever.
Good thread this, as long as it doesn't gravitate to the usual "Phil era" bashing nonesense.....
Best wishes
John

I have to agree with this entirely, it fits the definition of ingenious and still my favorite Phil's vocal performance
