Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze, the words are ''xcuse me while I kiss the sky.'

I always thought he sang 'xcuse me while I kiss this guy'! grin grin grin

Just listening to Paradise City by Guns n Roses on the radio (not keen on GnR) and it wasn't until recently that I realised I'd misheard the lyrics. Thought he sang 'Take me down to the very last city'! (What a dipstick!)

I never had any way of knowing the lyrics to From Genesis to Revelation so had some bizarre ideas there, such as "take me away from the pal of my emission". Also in Day the Light went Out I heard a line as "by something though an orphan yet a lie".

I had a good few others but can't think of them off hand, though my first G album was ATTWT and I thought in Deep in the Motherlode Phil sang "servants who leave their masters house... are walking away" which made me think they were worryingly right wing!

Hey, all. I love misheard lyrics, and some of the ones here are great. I have one. It's quite weak, but here goes...

My first misheard Genesis lyric was also from the first Genesis song I ever recall hearing: "Follow You, Follow Me". My family and I went camping in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado during July '78; I was six going on seven at the time. One day, I was walking back to our campsite from the camp's store, thinking about a girl I had a huge crush on. As I was walking I heard "FYFM" on someone's radio. Of course I couldn't really hear the words, so I thought the chorus was "You go right and I'll...I'll go left and you...". It just repeated from there. It made no real sense, but my head was filled with thoughts of that little brown-haired girl who would be waiting for me when school was back in session. I finally heard it right and proper sometime later that week, but I still didn't know who the band was until sometime in the mid-80s.

"Runnin' With The Devil", Van Halen - actual lyric was "I got no love, no love you'd call real." What I thought he said was:"
1. "I got no love, no love in Carillo" - I didn't know where Carillo was, but apparently it was a pretty lonely place for Mr. Roth.
2. "I got no love, no love in Korea"

"Hot Blooded", Foreigner - actual lyric was "Hot blooded, check it and see". I though he said, "Hot blooded, chicken of the sea".

On Fish's version of Roadhouse Blues I was convinced he was singing 'I woke up this morning and had myself a pill!'

As if he was taking Nurofen for a very bad hangover, I thought. On the Doors' original it's 'I woke up this morning and had myself a beer'.
