I may stir up some controversy now, but i thought "Smallcreeps Day" was a better "Genesis" album than the same year released "Duke"

"At The End Of The Day" still moves me to tears 27 years on!

I think Between the Tick and the Tock and At the End of the DAy are two of the most moving songs I've ever heard. Both, to me, far outshine any song he wrote in its entirety for Genesis except perhaps Say its Alright Joe. I wonder if like the Who, by 1980 the band were keeping the best stuff for their solo albums? (Actually in Tony's case this seems doubtful!)

Wish I could hear it. It sounds fantastic, but alas, I cannot get a copy right now. Sigh. Noel is good, though. Heard Moonshine on a prog website.

Thank you, Demolition Man! I will try to save my pennies. We're adopting a child (yay!), so I have to save my $$ right now. I hear Noel's great in MMEB, though!

Thanks again!

Just got hold of the missing track from Smallcreep's Day. It's called "Compression" and it's utterly fantastic. Noel's voice is awesome as you would expect. Not sure why it didn't make the album? Anyone know?

If anyone wants a copy I can email it.

Stick it on with the MMEB stuff, Col! wink

Smallcreep's Day is a MONSTER ALBUM!!!! Quite possibly the finest solo effort outside of Maestro Hackett's "Voyage".

Acting Very Strange, however... rolleyes grin

Well, the SD sessions produced about 57 minutes' worth of music, so something pretty much had to be cut. Back in the days of LPs one generally didn't put out albums that were close to an hour long (unless one was named Anthony Phillips, but that's another story). At 6 minutes, "Compression" must have been seen as the most space-saving track to omit. Even so, SD was pretty long by LP standards.

What I want to know is, why on earth was this track not used as a bonus track when SD came out on CD? A more obvious potential bonus track I've never seen!

Great to see so many people love this album as much as i do - it's the best Genesis solo album by a mile and and is in my top 10 best albums of all time. Time & Time Again and At The End Of The Day are wonderful songs that are quite personal to me.

I just heard this album for the first time EVER the night before last, and I was blown away! I couldn't stop playing it in my car all day yesterday. I love the whole thing and think that the guitarwork is simply sublime! I would say that my fave as of yet is "Moonshine;" it's just great!

If anyone dares to ever say that Mike is terrible/sub-par/poor at the guitar... he or she should go listen to Smallcreep's Day IMMEDIATELY (especially "Into The Daylight"), lest I dish out a knuckle sandwich... wink

Way to go on making a brilliant masterpiece, Mikey! You rock my face off! cheesy
