Finally got to see Bellowhead, last night at The Robin (2 previous times we had left it too late and they sold out, as they were last night). They were brilliant; lived up to all the reviews and more grin.

Next gigs, at The Robin:

Martin Barre Band, Thurs 4th Sept
G2, Sat 6th Sept
Mystery, Mon 8th Sept
Stackridge, Thurs 11th Sept

Elsewhere:

Steve Howe, Bromsgrove Artrix, Sun 14th Sept
Spock's Beard, Leicester Musician, Wed 17th Sept
(sorry Kev wink - Roger Chapman's Shortlist are at The Robin)
John Bishop, Wulfrun Hall, Thurs 18th Sept
Talon, B'ham Town Hall, Fri 19th Sept

I'm hoping to see Carpet Crawlers on 17th (my b'day! grin) in Stafford. Didn't realise Spock's Beard were on in Leicester.

That's at the amphitheatre, right?
Almost pulled the trigger and got a ticket for this one, but I hate the venue. Although I would like to see SD in a small venue again.

No, it is at the Sony Centre (former O'Keefe/Hummingbird). Not a great venue for live music, but perhaps more appropriate for Steely Dan than the Amphitheatre. There are still a few good single seats left for each night.

Oh...why did I think it was at the amphitheatre? huh
Maybe I'm thinking of the last time they came around, because I do remember a recent gig there.

I also remember looking into getting a ticket for this show, but for some reason I thought I'd pass this time around. Maybe ticket selection wasn't so hot when I tried.

Anyhoo...took a look online just now and scored an 8th row seat for Saturday night...

You are welcome to post highlights as I won't care about spoilers before Sunday - especially if it increases the likelihood that I will hear My Old School.

It sucked.

You will be very disappointed Dr. J. I suggest that you get rid of your ticket. Heck, as a favour to you, I would be willing to take it off your hands...take the bullet for you, so to speak...

Unfortunately Henry was right. Steely Dan put on a horrible performance and this tour should definitely be skipped.

First of all, they had the misfortune of having a really tight band, including a great horn section and a fantastic drummer. Who really wants to go to a concert to hear performances this skilful and full of energy?

Secondly, what were they thinking when selecting the setlist? Who really wants to hear stuff like My Old School, Peg, Aja, Hey Nineteen, Reelin' in the Years, Bodhisattva, and Kid Charlemagne?

It was such a waste of my time. Thanks Henry for the warning. wink
