Oh - pity! Usually, for the old punk bands you can buy a ticket on the night! Luckily for me - I decided to get mine early! smiley. My only regret is my friend got there late - so we ended up where we couldn't see very much! They were still good though! smiley

Let us know how they were!

Previously, Boot Led Zeppelin have had a "John Paul Jones" who only played bass. So for songs requiring keyboards, they brought on a 5th member - a second "John Paul Jones" grin - to play keyboards. It soon became clear last night that they had poached the "John Paul Jones" from The Black Dogz, as he was able to play bass and keyboards. Boot Led Zeppelin are clearly more into wigs than The Black Dogz. When playing for the latter, this JPJ is as bald as a coot. However, last night he was sporting a rather effeminate long blonde wig. grin As regards last night's gig:

On the plus side
They played a number of songs I've not heard any Led Zeppelin tribute band play before, e.g. I Can't Quit You Baby, Friends cool, Bron-Yr-Aur and Sick Again.

On the minus side
It was probably definitely the worst gig I've seen them play (it was about the 5th time I've seen them). For the first half, I thought their playing was a bit loose and they improvised a bit too much. However, the biggest problem was their sound engineer whose mix was terrible. angry On songs such as Friends and Since I've Been Loving You, you could hardly hear the keyboards. During the Stairway To Heaven guitar solo, the keyboards drowned out the guitar. Other times you could hear little other than the bass and drums. And frequently the vocals were slightly muffled. Hopefully this was a one-off and so I will go and see them again.

Lissie (the real Lissie, NOT a tribute grin) - Tuesday 18th March, Shepherd's Bush.

What a fantastic show Lissie and her band put on last night - she really knows how to rock. smiley Having only released 2 full length studio albums, she was able to play most songs from both of them as well as a couple of unreleased songs and cover versions. Her support band was good too, though the singer's name escapes me. What was also pleasing was that the audience age range was wide, with lots of youngsters as well as the grey haired brigade. So despite the efforts of the vile Cowell and his cronies, rock music hasn't been destroyed yet and creativeness hasn't been stifled yet. grin
