OK, here's the setlist for Quintessential. Like I said, there's some pretty strange choices here (as well as a few gems), and as I result, it wasn't as good as the previous two times we saw them. Still not a bad way to spend an hour and a half, though.

1. Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
2. David Bowie – Space Oddity
3. Gary Puckett & The Union Gap – Young Girl
4. The Beach Boys – I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times
5. Led Zeppelin – What Is And What Should Never Be
6. The Beatles – Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
7. Newton Faulkner – Clouds cool
8. Kasabian – Empire
9. Radiohead – High And Dry
10. The Everly Brothers – Wake Up, Little Susie
11. Ultravox – Vienna
12. Cream – Strange Brew
13. Black Sabbath – Paranoid
14. The Animals – Bring It On Home To Me
15. Blondie – Sunday Girl
16. One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful rolleyes
17. Jessie J – Pricetag

Encore:

18. Psy – Gangnam Style tongue
19. The SpongeBob SquarePants Theme undecided
20. Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby

One Direction? Really?! rolleyes And the SpongeBob theme... ugggh. undecided Now I haven't watched that show since 2007, but I've read all about the show's catastrophic decline since then, and so singing along to the theme (which my Mum encouraged me to do) was rather uncomfortable. sad I mean, the cheerful theme barely matches the show's highly sadistic and crude style now, which makes it even more uncomfortable.

However, Newton Faulkner's Clouds... what a great choice! Best song of the evening. cool And The Beach Boys' I Just Wasn't Made For These Times was a nice surprise as well. smiley

They play one song by The Beatles, and they choose "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da"? I can't understand anyone doing that in any context. tongue

Friday 22nd November - Roxy Magic (Roxy Music tribute)

I was a little concerned to immediately notice that the band had acquired a new "Phil Manzanera". And through no fault of his, the sound balance was distinctly "off" for the first half of the set. Fortunately, the sound problem was fixed for the second half and the band were back to their brilliant best - Kevin Hackett is Bryan Ferry. grin It's just a pity that they steadfastly refuse to play Same Old Scene. undecided

I went to the Moses Gate last night to watch Electro 80's. We had to leave before the start of the 2nd set due to the last train leaving.

I have to say that, although a lot of the music was good,a lot of it was very repetitive

Will be going to Bury on 20th June to see the Enid. Anyone fancy meeting up with me, the wife and my cousin and his wife? Long way off but this is essential.
